As a naturalized citizen myself, I would like to say that when I attended the formal swearing-in naturalization ceremony (along with about 1,000 other fellow Americans) I was also given one of those tiny American flags depicted in the photo, to wave about at the end.

Oh, this is so, so sad.

As a social worker I endorse this statement. A person does not live in a vacuum divorced of what they suffered thruought their life.

I’m sure you’re right. There’s still a LOT of people who believe MJ was an innocent victim.

As mentioned, it might not be child porn. I remember a case I saw while interning that involved a guy who took pictures of kids in his neighborhood and taped them on adult porn over the faces. It was hella creepy, but not child porn since it didn’t depict the sexual organs of a child.

My guess is that the photos did not fall into the definition of it (since it sounds like they were clothed photos) for the police, so it did not go much further.

not to be a complete jerk, but I honestly feel like this attitude is why we still have such a long way to go with how CSA is dealt with and why there are so, so, so, so many abusers who get away with is for decades and decades and have scores and scores of victims: because it is uncomfortable and upsetting and a lot

Tell me about it. My toddler has no respect for anything. NO! RESPECT!

Too much of a good thing.

As one of the signatories, I am so glad to see that Jezebel is covering this.

Yes, because the school itself ignored the situation for as long as they could. An “open secret” and supervisors knowing about it and even warning students is not the same as an official action by Yale. By their inaction the school endorsed this creep’s activities.

I’m not familiar with this case, but I can certainly confirm that this kind of situation is a thing that happens all too commonly. I know that my department had its very own Dirty Old Man, who had a habit of sexually harassing female students, grad students in particular. Many complaints were made over the years, but

Between this and the Stanford rape survivor’s letter, I’m pretty impressed with Buzzfeed lately.

Worth adding some of the pre-text to your quote.

See, you get it.

Ah, the government doesn’t spend money on HRCs clothes. Also, Carson’s secret service detail was gone within 2 days.

It’s not like they have to advertise the fact on their website before you buy tickets. And seeing the sign means you have in fact bought tickets already.

I have a friend whose grown daughter struggled in school, but was bright and curious. She graduated from high school and got an associate’s degree from a community college, and is semi-independent. I don’t know the name of her diagnosis (beyond being on the autism spectrum), but she’s *profoundly* naive. She has no

If I were in the Everglades yeah I’d realize it. Also, like, you know those big like gates over the back of pools in Florida to keep the gators out? That would remind me. But in Disney world? It just wouldn’t occur to me. I don’t live with them, so without the reminder of A. you are in the wilderness like the

She could be MID, mild intellectual disability. It’s more severe than learning disabilities but the individual is higher functionig than the classification of “mentally retarded” which as far as i know, is still the technical term used.
