Yeah, and those “reported tailpipe emissions” don’t count for gas extraction, refining, gas transmission halfway around the world, etc. That is a tailpipe measurement. I don’t see you trying to amortize that.

Most electric charging is done at night. Do you know what time continental wind energy peaks?

That report from

I remember full well the early 2000s when hybrids came at a $20k price premium, and everyone said don't buy them because you'll never make up the cost in gas savings. But you know what? Without those early hybrids, we don't have a 2019 Corolla hybrid. The same situation holds with Tesla today.

“If “it’s cheaper and better built” was the reason everyone bought everything, the car market would look a lot different than it does.”

Here’s your Argonne report, since you’re a fan of them:

I’d imagine the Tesla, even a base model, would be immensely more fun to drive than a hybrid Corolla ever could hope to be. The current base Model 3 does 0-60 in 5.6 seconds and is RWD.

Can’t tell if you’re crazy or if you’re crazy.
“The fuel maintains..” Maybe you’ve never driven a gas-powered car. They don’t maintain 100% of their range either—they lose approximately 15-20% of their range when the temperature drops to 0C.

“It’ll cost you only 7 cents..” people aren’t charging Model 3s every day at a

Not saying you’re wrong (normal new model drop off, and economic conditions would tend to confirm), but given the rush to ramp up production, I’d be more going with production processes being streamlined now that numbers are ‘normalised’ and there isn’t the need to throw people at it any more.

Not surprising at all. Lots of people turning in their 3 series leases. Whether this holds is the true test.

It’s not a surprise that it outsold Cadillacs and Lincolns. Those two brands are on life support in any event. It is a surprise that it outsold all Mercedes, BMW’s and Audis though.

That’s every manufacturer though.

Yeah, because no car company has ever used plastic in their cooling system before...

As someone who is pro-Tesla, I only cared about the results of the race, didn’t care at all about the DQ (other than the rule being stupid in the first place).

Indeed.  I’m trying to make the numbers work without the gas savings, so that part can just be a bonus.

Because the lower price model is accessible to many more buyers, especially with the full $7500 credit still available. This would stretch my finances but honestly has me considering a deposit. My family wants an EV badly, but what am I gonna buy, a bolt or a leaf? yuck.

FYI, The statement Tesla sent to Electrek said it won’t impact the timeline for the standard Model 3.

That’s for the Performance version though, and is priced on par with the M3 and C63 so not totally crazy.

Only in America. Everyone else in the world has figured it out by now.

Tragic but true.

Good people on both sides. See?
