Like every big awards show, the Game Awards are a sham. Triple-A games always sweep, there’s a few come-from-behind indie wins, Nintendo gets the “Best Family Game” just like Disney always gets the “Best Animation” at the Oscars, most games that are worthy of an award get nothing. I don’t know how the hell Neon White

I mean, dude has a controlling stake in the company. What consequences other than “your wealth goes down” can Facebook level at him? Firing him would be futile because even if the Board did so Zuckerberg could literally replace all of them at his leisure and there’s not a damn thing anyone could do about it.

He’s the controlling shareholder — the only way he can ever take responsibility is by losing money. Him resigning wouldn’t change the fact that he retains de facto control of the company. Facebook is Zuck’s toy to screw up or not, and everyone who works there should be crystal clear that they are placing their

“Fired staff will be receiving 16 weeks of base pay, plus two extra weeks’ pay for each year of employment, plus all their remaining paid time off. They and their families will also get health insurance for six months, three months of career support, and vitally, immigration support. Overseas employees will receive

Yeah the whole skin “bragging” has always seemed dumb to me.  Like, in a totally different game, in COD ohhh look I got this gold version of (insert weapon) aren’t I special.  Um no, no your not.

I find it astounding and not surprising (in equal measure) that the gaming population is so rabidly over-entitled that they can seriously and without parody complain about the fact that people who pay for something might have more options than people who just use something for free.

I sometimes think these issues are overblown as in essence a lot of the time it boils down to, “How dare you make me grind your game so that I can grind your game!”

They even bought Bungie then didn’t even put D2 on the service, how daft is that. PS+ has just shown over and over that Sony has no clue how to make use of their own assets.

As noticed by VGC, the report reveals that PlayStation Plus subscription numbers actually fell following the much-touted relaunch, which saw the figures drop from 47.3 million to 45.4 million. Those are clearly still healthy numbers, almost double those Microsoft can boast for Game Pass, but certainly not what Sony

We’ve heard that some developers want to do away with the console

When the Xbox was first being pitched to Gates, they infamously informed him that it would be a loss leader for a long time to come, but their goal was to be the center piece in many people’s entertainment centers. Gates decided that he was willing to tolerate no more then 7 billion dollars loss wise from the Xbox

Assholes might be their biggest demographic, but highly skilled assholes clearly are not - the biggest group are the cannon fodder.

I think they know the lower price isn’t changing anyone’s mind into buying an Xbox vs a PS5 so may as well raise the price.  Someone who wants an Xbox is going to buy an Xbox.

And how do you think volume is achieved? Price and more importantly value (bang for buck) is a very important metric in achieving volume.

I am keeping this conversation solely in the triple A space, indie is a completely different beast with so many more variables I am unwilling to tackle here. The $60 dollar price

so maybe cool it about how expensive games are and recognize how good we have it

yeah, and from the title, xbox and microsoft put money for the game to arriba PS Plus as well...

Well, sure, but I mean... these are also paid services. So while I’m sure the first-party data provides a lot of value to Sony and Microsoft, I do not see it being valuable enough that it would offset the cost of the subscription if payment wasn’t required.

The PS5 has argued in its own filings to Brazil’s government and others that Microsoft’s $69 billion deal to bring Call of Duty, Diablo IV, and other games to Game Pass would make it much harder to compete in the gaming industry.

But there isn’t anything about the 4xxx series that indicates they’re less efficient, even if overall consumption has increased. Even Nvidia notes in their marketing that the 4xxx series is more efficient than 3xxx series.

The price has remained the same, but the profits AAA developers/publishers bring in has increased exponentially. FAR more than the cost of development has increased. The price hike is unnecessary.
