Saw Life last night. I was not as impressed with it as io9 writers seem to be—it’s much less Alien and much more Gravity. Calvin lacked the brooding terror of the Xenomorph and the crew lacked the Ripley figure that would have made the movie great.
As someone that grew up with VCRs, I have a hard time understanding why anyone would be nostalgic for a medium that AWFUL, even back when they were the dominant medium for consuming movies. I honestly believe that most people that claim to miss VHS tapes didn’t grow up with them.
