It’s really just okay. The first two episodes are really good. Then for some reason it decides to play it safe and have pretend emergencies and manufactured action that are totally unneeded instead of focusing on the things that are interesting.

I think they’re mistaken if they think the viewership interest drop is about the casting change and not the substance of the show.  People have stopped watching the show for the same reason Cavill is leaving, not because of it.
