For wood screws you probably need something slightly larger/longer as a replacement due to the wood expanding or wearing over time.
Over time Netflix has given me some very accurate recommendations, but of course it only works for movies on DVD. It'd be nice to have something work for upcoming movies, but how? You need enough feedback to have it sit in some kind of algorithmic field to know if you're a match.
@Mokhtar M. Khorshid: An interesting way of looking at. I don't believe it though. Consciousness, ideas, personality; all "aspects" of brain function—- yet impossible to map. States can be mapped, but stages cannot.
@Wabbited: Feeling a little hemmed in by Fate? Or by chance?
What's a lot more important than what you call it (fate or chance) is HOW you want to see it (life or a pattern in life). Both the terms Fate and Chance have this disconnection to Choice, which 99% is how you got where you are.
What would be especially nice would be to include a mail virus along with your canned response. Or really offensive images that take up a lot of space too.
It installed it immediately, and love the idea. Basically it'll need some time for me to train it as to what's high and low priority however. Right now anything new comes in as high by default. I like it because it helps give me an "at a glance" overview of whether to bother with what's in the In Box.
I also love ManicTime. Works great and you can see trends, away time from your computer and track/sort by application over weeks or months. It's been hugely helpful for accurate billing for me. And Free!
@bbutle01: Well- all those points have something to them, but my question to you again is: why bother reading a blog/forum site devoted to giving you advice if you're going to see it as "telling you what to do?" It's just an article, with a number of valid points to back up it's opinion. It's not gov. mandate.
@bbutle01: When you're fat, drunk and have a blank stare from obsessively checking your email you may want to decide it's too much.
I have started not having my browser open at all while I work and- SURPRISE! I get a lot more done! Wish I would have thought of this years ago, but hey, I still have many ahead. I now check email only once every half hour and that's only if my iPhone makes it's "In Box" chime.
Cool!!! Thanks!
I'm loving this already. Really what you need if you mix freelance with personal!
@Black Knight Rebel: Once NT4 came along and had real OpenGL, the Mac world was left to catch up. NT and then the prettier version of Win2000 actually made many big advances in OS technology, and helped spur the ability to do pro 3D animation (not to mention great games) from a home computer. Mac didn't bring in Open…
That is genius.
It all depends on your tasks. Most of the graphic design, video editing or 3D apps I use simply can NOT be used effectively anymore with one monitor. Even with two I'm quite often opening and closing the same menu-windows all the time. But what I'm working on occupies most of my primary so it gets covered up. Come to…
@Ridley: Much better summary than the article- thanks. The OP missed another key point. Video editing. Anyone who does heavy media editing of any kind is always looking for the fastest way to push though massive data streams. Also, most 3D apps use big swap files which a SSD also would bring speed improvements.
@dbowker3d: Books: I'm on the fence. I got a B&N Nook and love it, though it's obviously not for large format items, art books etc. Really more periodicals and the kind of books I'd just assume sell off or donate. we have a ton of books around the house and frankly, do we really need almost a whole self of my wife's…
I have over 1000 lp records and growing. New ones come with a CD or digital copy, and I can make lossless copies via USB A/D converter. None of they babies are going anywhere while I'm still alive.
