Apple has been ripping features off Windows for years- you just never bothered to check.
The whole Apple innovation thing has just been an ongoing myth, esp. in the actual desktop realm for years. For at least the last 10 years whenever I see a list of "new" features for the Mac OS, quite a few turn out to things Windows has had well before hand. That's thing about being in a religious-like bubble:…
He talking pre-W7 phones- what were just called Windows phones I believe. Before the roll-out last year all the older phones existing had to stop where they were. The new W7 phones out since last summer should allow for W8 for the OS, though stuff like multi-core support won't be implemented since none of the current…
Well, from what I could tell it was pretty PG-13. Porn in the softest form possible really. I suppose Kickstarter took their rule to it's logical conclusion in that certainly SOME people would consider it salacious. And as they are just getting going, they are likely to be especially sensitive to their image. It…
What surprised me was that Windows 7 already has this built in search list of all sorts of sizes from large down to 0kb files. Kind of cool, and as my primary drive is a 300GB SSD, I do need to monitor files that hog up space. Good tip LH.
it's a minor connection they use. No content or anything. I mean, it HAS to interact with your GMAIL to work with it. Doesn't mean they are grabbing your emails or attachments.
To reiterate the caveats:
Is this an article for newbie users or something? "For the longest time, I'd open up Windows Explorer and start typing in the search bar, and I'd rarely find anything. This is because Windows Explorer only searches the folder you're in—not your entire computer."
As an Eagle Scout from many years back, overall I'd say overall a pretty good article.
Yeah WTF? I have installed the hide feedback script twice and it won't work any more. Is GMAIL seriously that concerned to have it keep coming up that they updated the app to ignore the script?
I've been an advocate for Windows for many years, despite being fully aware of it's shortcomings. Granted, as an animator, I learned to be a power user and know how to keep my OS clean and up to speed. Reputations and perception are often stronger than reality however. A bad rep is hardest to shake, and as we know a…
Uh, you're still using G+? Are they paying companies to use it now?
I love this. If it were a design company or art school it would be a great tool. Actually I think if I had one around, I and my art-loving son would have a lot of fun with it.
The spec.s are close, but it's not just the device that matters. It's the company itself.
No Diskeeper? Granted, Windows basically runs a simplified version of it already, but it's got some great features, and has consistently gotten top marks over the years. It's not free: $40. But for a low memory footprint and a choice of simplified (or sophisticated), depending on your technical comfort zone control…
I think there are plenty who keep it as an annoying badge of pride. Like an American flag on a lapel, a cross around the neck, or any other bumper sticker that declares one's smug values to the world.
I've been using Intuos tablets for about 12 years now, and have a 6x9 version but a nice sketchbook sized 12x18 is absurdly expensive. And as I use 3 monitors, it gets tricky with how the tablet mapping works with them. Plus, it's clunky for sketching- you can't actually see what you're doing for one. I find them…
Not signing of at all in an email strikes me as someone who thinks they are "too cool" or lazy, especially since you can at least have a programmed in sig. on any email client.
I hugely agree with that! I changed that as soon as I got my iPhone and ditto when I got a Win7 phone. Who needs to be a walking product placement shill?
