So you think we know enough now to be confident that THIS hurricane is attributable to GW (as so many are asserting). But the dearth of hurricanes over the past decade was simply luck, and had nothing to do with GW?

Except that the predictions also were for MORE hurricanes in the Atlantic - which hasn’t happened. So, yeah cherry picking seems like a reasonable criticism. It’s basically the reverse of people hyping cold weather as proof that GW is a myth.

But we aren’t allowed to tell the truth. It might make people uncomfortable.

Understand the sentiment, but with the advent of ubiquitous video, the ability of police to simply lie is much less. In this case, it’s pretty obvious that the daughter’s story which started all this is fantasy.

Guess you missed the “threatened a police officer” part of my comment. As for “both stories” - one is the rant of a daughter, who wasn’t there. The other is the official account of the well respected, black police chief who has seen the dashcam video and the independent civilian witnesses who agree that it was a

Dense? The initial story that started the riots was that he was peacefully sitting in his car reading a book and a racist police officer executed him. The police claim that he exited the car with a gun (not presumably holstered etc.) and presented a clear threat to the police. He was shot by a (presumably non-racist)

Err....hoping not serious. Probably one of the most common usages is to describe traveling preachers, snake oil salesman and the like - usually white. First image from Google:

Anyone else remember the current Administration firing the Inspector General after uncovering that Kevin Johnson had misappropriating close to a million dollars of Federal money? Good times.

The North Carolina police shooting was (according to the Police who claim video support) NOT an unarmed civilian. The guy had a gun, not, as his daughter claimed in starting the protests/riots, a book.

Although self defense would be justified from the perspective of the one defending himself. Obviously not justified for the person who may have threatened harm to create the situation in the first place.

For all we know the civilian who did the shooting was acting in self defense. The rioters have been attacking random innocent people who just happened to be in the area.

The proper term apparently is now “uprising”. Makes them sound all noble - like they are looting the Walmart for a higher cause.

In this case, “this” was a black police officer shooting an armed person who threatened the police officer. At least that is what the video evidence is claimed to show. Perhaps “this” that should stop is the rush to judgement - based on obviously b.s. claims by family of criminals.

I believe it’s the same reason that The Rock’s shirt is unbuttoned almost to his waist.

Just a Toyota model. It’s the “nicest” model, but still just a Toyota.

This would not make it “illegal” to sue for bad reviews. It doesn’t magically repeal all the state libel/defamation laws. The only thing it is does is prevent consumer contracts from including contractual restrictions on negative reviews. I’m pretty sure most of the abusive suits mentioned would still have been

A good bit of the snark is from readers who come to Gizmodo in the (often vain) hope to read about tech issues. Many of us have long been annoyed by the Gawker (etc.) garbage leaking into this blog.
