@TheFu: I tend to use xkill from the terminal when I need it(rarely these days) I do have the force quit icon on my panel but always forget it is there.

@jmontana: Well, cold air would likely be a good thing. My cell phone is always too hot and I tend to hold it right in front of the vent in my car to cool it off fast. The winter might be a bit more of an issue.

@agentshmalan: You probably just need to reinstall/reconfigure GRUB. When doing a multi-boot this is the most common issue, especially if you install Windows after Linux(Windows doesn't respect other bootloaders besides it's own)

@agentshmalan: I still think new users should go with Ubuntu. Jolicloud is not fully baked and really not looking to be a desktop OS. Meego is made for small devices like phones and small netbooks/tablets.

@gullymprictr: Some of us do a lot of in and outs of buildings. Sun glasses allow me to retain my low light vision so when I walk into a door I can still see. Polarized lenses also cut down on reflections which can cause spots in your eyes. They also help when driving to allow you to pay more attention to the road

@_Jonny: To add to that, they will stay on bottom if you have a profile from an older version. Only fresh installs will get tabs-on-top, and even then it is a minor thing to change.

@John T. Haller: Thanks for all your work John. I use portableapps every day.

@tgrantt: Yes, that's how it works on Windows. Unfortunately it isn't so pretty on Ubuntu. I can't speak for Macs.

I had to vote for Kompozer, mostly by default. I haven't used dreamweaver in years and have never touched the others. Kompozer's latest beta is pretty good, but it is still pretty rough around the edges.

@bdr9: The name Mozilla gives to testing version of Firefox. Minefield is a joke saying you may step on a mine and the whole browser explodes.

@HeartBurnKid: Agent of R.O.A.C.H.: I would guess that software controlled fans could likely be stopped and a processor can be set to work as hard as possible. The result may be some damage, however most modern processors are smart enough to shut down if the heat becomes too high.

I knew about using a console, I do that while at friends quite often. If we are sitting around playing games I'll hook up my phone with my 6" MicroUSB cable.

I am the IT guy at an accounting firm. I use Linux at home on all my machines, but at work we have no option but to use Windows because pretty much all professional accounting software is Windows only. I would love to move our server to Linux, but the higher ups have no idea what that is and have no interest in it

@GlennA: Virtual machines are pretty awesome.

@cgarison: That's the ribbon layout, many modern applications use it on Windows.

@image45: I find that despite having FlashBlock running flash still often runs. I will start the browser with FlashBlock on and check my task manager after an hour or two and flash will be running in the background, telling me it is doing the same thing as the adblock programs, loading the flash object then killing

@shkm: Because it is netbook size focused. I'm sure Mark is looking at the netbook stuff and thinking about how it might apply to the desktop, but currently it is not optimal for big screens. That said, if I was going to setup a computer for someone who never touched one before I'd probably give them NBR instead of

I feel like my time is worth more than what coupons offer. Even if I would have just used that time to play video games(which I probably would).

[shutter-project.org] for Ubuntu is a fantastic screenshot tool. Free and powerful it supports FTP uploading for quick placement on the web. It also features tools that allow you to pick a window to screenshot, take screenshots of right click menus and even tooltips. It also has a 'repeat last screenshot' that

@reddevil3: They can coexist. You can install Unity as well as UNR. Then all you have to do is select which interface you want to use when you go to login.
