@crikerat: You can disable system toolbars in Chrome for Ubuntu. Just rightclick on the window and there is a checkbox for it. You can also make it match the color scheme of your system in the program settings so it blends well with your desktop. Chrome's layout between Windows, Ubuntu, and OSX is nearly identical.

@MadManMoon: Google released Chrome saying that they wanted people to copy them. Mozilla is just taking them up on the offer. Chromes layout was certainly the best I've seen for a browser and really helped the tab metaphor.

@DBeta: Just checked and Sumatra 1.0 does support password protected PDFs. Can't create them, though. It would be a nice little bonus.

I've found the most Acrobat replacement tools don't support password protected PDFs which are kinda essential to my job. If I found one that worked well with passworded and fill-in-form PDFs I would replace Adobe Reader office wide.

@TheFlyingFish: They'd do a better job at it than Big Bell ever did. I'm not fan of monopolies, especially in communication, but if I had to choose one company to be it, it would be Google. #googlevoice

@spittingangels: I only pay $70 for my Pre's plan. That's 450 minutes, not sure how many text messages, and "unlimited" data. Way cheaper than what they say the price is. Are they maybe using prices from another country or something? #remainders

It's a good time to love computers. Windows 7 is a great release, and so is Ubuntu 9.10. All my computers are looking pretty and running smooth with new OSs. #ubuntu

@Jason: I often use the mobile sites for common webpages on my desktop. The slim and clean "to the point" interfaces are lovely when you are in a hurry and don't want to see a marketing pitch or wade through huge drop down menus. #mail

VOTE: Apt

Big waves like that tend to freeze up Firefox, and lock up the tab for Chrome on most of my machines. So far I've been avoiding them. Oh well. #googlewave

@marcopolo9: Actually, your Pre does. If you haven't been following the homebrew scene, I highly recommend you check out drPodder. It's a fantastic podcasting client for the Pre that can download podcasts and handles bookmarks. Really worth a look, especially if you have WiFi in your house or work.

@Richard Cosgrove: Looks like they just used the generic [mozilla.com] cert for the sub-domain and it is causing issues. It is safe to go to the website though. Even if for some reason there was a security issue, all a "man in the middle" attack would get was knowing what plugins may have security issues that you

@Edge767: The push on the update normally takes a few days for people who aren't requesting it, from what I understand. But yes, it was released Monday, so the title is a little misleading.

Clever, I might need to keep an eye out for my Pre. It's shape prevents it from sitting cleanly on most surfaces without sliding from the charging cable. I general just sit it on top of the pouch that came with it, but a real home for it would be nice.

Most of my family and friends have smart phones with a facebook app, so I normally just upload the image to facebook from my phone(Pre for the win!), and then it goes to everyone. The other option I normally use is emailing the picture. However, I do send MMS to my brother only because it is inline with the IM in the

@MeOhMy: Let's be fair to Google. This is completely different than what Apple does. Google is saying 'Hey, you can't distribute a modified copy of our OS that comes stock on phones because there are copyright, trademark, and patent issues.' as to where Apple is saying 'Hey, stop doing anything with your phone that

I think Google would have more installs if it had better OS integration with Linux. I really like Picasa, and it runs really well on Linux despite Wine being a middle man, but in my experience things like the photo importer don't work correctly when pulling from a camera. It also doesn't become an option when plugging

I kept my laptop plugged in almost 100% of the time for about 4 years, the battery life was as good 4 years later as it was when I got it. When I replaced it with my netbook I unplugged it for about two weeks. Upon reconnecting power, I found that my battery life had halved and is now in the 15 minute range.

Seems a Kubuntu Netbook Remix is coming in 9.10. I'll be interested to see how that turns out. Currently using JoliCloud, but find it rather pointless at this stage, it's mostly just Ubuntu Netbook Remix with a few tweaks. I've always liked KDE, but also used Gnome, not sure why exactly.
