I think you’re operating under the misguided assumption that people can’t check the plausibility of your claims, as if databases of historical housing prices and wages in the 90s did not exist on the Internet.

The far likelier scenario is that you are exaggerating or outright lying.
You did not buy a house at age 20. You bought a mortgage at age 20, and likely with little to no money down, which means that you were also throwing away money on mortgage insurance.

I think that a the problem with studies of these types is that people keep wanting to look for shortcuts or ways of phoning it in. And then they complain that they’re not the experts they thought they were going to become after putting in the 10,000 hours or whatever.
