My two Alaskan Malamutes have a horrible tendency to build up tartar. Twice a year they each get a fresh, raw cow femur from the local butcher.  After a day of chewing most of the tartar is gone.  By day two it's completely gone.  Each femur costs me about $7.  Best investment in canine health ever!
