Many states have it set to as low as the federal minimum. I try to keep that in mind when I go to RI for example, I try to tip better since they make a third of what they make as servers in CT.

For servers, federally it is $2.13, though some states have higher wages (mine is close to $6). The idea is that customers will make up for the pay gap in tips for service.

They are usually the same people who think poor people are lazy....coming from people who wouldn't show up to work for less than $25 an hour.

Seriously, my pregnant coworker was leaving work for 3-4 hours at a time, sexually harassing our coworker (and me, since I was uncomfortable hearing it), and she has her job waiting for her when she gets back. I don't want people getting fired for being pregnant, but some people sure do take advantage of it....
