I re-watched it over Christmas and it really isn't that good, but damn…the characters are all so charming and Pullman is weirdly hot. I too had a strange crush on him as a kid due to this film.

So excited to find out why he's dressed exactly like Kolchak…I'm assuming he ditched the giant camera and recorder around his neck, though.

Thanks for this, A.V. Club…as someone who watches The Bachelor/Bachelorette as my only trash TV time, I do like a peek of the psychology behind why in the hell anyone would do this.

You know, the carnies are actually the most respected citizens of that town.

Replying to add my love of Angel and Faith.

YES.

…OK, chiming in. Hi everyone.

Chiming in to say Mansfield Park is my favorite Austen, so I hope you get around to it in 2016 and like it!

Great list.

I love the Golden Girls. I always crack up when Dorothy and Sophia dress up as Sonny and Cher. Although Blanche is by far and away my favorite too.

The American President! One of those films I somehow loved as a kid and still fondly remember certain quotes. "I went to Stanford, you blowhole!"

I watched this for the first time in 2014! I loved it.

I'm constantly a year or two behind most pop culture due to sheer abundance of things to watch, here are the things I started in 2015:

Keep reading and let us know what you think! I love the DT series and have read through three times…the first time was magical. I find more things to be confused by the more I read it, strangely enough, but it doesn't detract from how compelling it is.

I don't have anything interesting to contribute, but I just wanted to say that I'm so glad these recaps are back. I started watching the series when Season 1 was being recapped and quickly eclipsed the reviews. Now maybe I can revisit the series and get other people's takes on some episodes.

Tom's song from the Circus on Ice short:

Thirded! Tom's voice is weird and grating.

While You Were Sleeping is a holiday favorite in our home. "It looks like he's…leaning."

Reading it now as an adult after reading it (but never finishing) as a kid. I'm enjoying it- do it!

Even though Season 1 isn't the strongest, there are decent episodes scattered about so I'd give all of it a shot. Most important episodes in my humble opinion: 2 part pilot, Angel, The Puppet Show, Nightmares, Prophecy Girl (season finale). Season 2 really picks up though, so even if you're not super into it I think
