I shamelessly self-nominate my Yugo trucklet:

W111-W112 fintails. Well maybe not flabbergasting, as they were so advanced in some structural and technical ways, but a 1-2-3 finish at Monte Carlo in 1960 and dozens upon dozens of other victories in rallies and road racing is pretty impressive for something that is usually so docile.

Before the WRC began in 1973, there was the IMC; International Championship for Manufactures. The IMC existed from 1969-1972.

The USA earned a round of the championship in 1972 with Michigan's Press on Regardless rally.

The winner? A 4wd Jeep Wagoneer.

If you want the most affordable and the most durable/reliable the answer is truck. A sporty car is great if you want to get dirty and/or want to pay big for parts/service.

I always liked the old Chrysler keys (mine was on a Plymouth) just because of the simplicity of the top one and the fact that compared to GM you inserted the key "upside down"
