Cartoon show format versus film format is definitely the issue overall. Ezra’s dabbling in the Dark Side and Poe’s attempted revolution within the Resistance are both similar in that they were a.) avoidable if someone had just been honest with the person involved and b.) Were plot points that resolved really cleanly

Yes Clone Wars did a MUCH better job with the character, even in regards to the secret affair. Clone Wars definitely benefited from being able to tell stories spanning so many seasons instead of just the abbreviated ones in the movies.

The story Filoni told about Anakin is infinitely better than Lucas. Anakin went from being a joke in the prequels to my all time fav Star Wars character thanks to Clone Wars

The Last Jedi took Luke Skywalker from a man who was ready to let the Emperor execute him rather than kill his own father, and turned him into a man willing to murder his own nephew because of his potential for evil. There was no character character development to explain the change, because Rian simply needed Luke to

One is expanding the SW universe beyond the classic mythology, the other actively worked to undo the classic mythology to serve his own story. It’s easy to see why Filoni gets so much more praise.

Really? Season 2 absolutely is when the story gets good and there are significantly less filler episodes.

i kinda disagree with that. i mean its great and all to have thrawn pulled back into cannon, but he’s really only been a place holder to the story, he hasn’t been shown to be very “thrawn-ish” at all. i think it’s been a wasted opportunity.

It’s funny how different this sort of reaction is to The Last Jedi overall. Both Rian and Dave have worked to move beyond the story of the Skywalkers, yet there are entirely different reactions in general.

ok so Filoni must make as many more animated shows as humanly possible HE IS Star Wars NOW. I’ve said it a thousand times and will keep saying it, he is and has been the true soul of Star Wars since Clone Wars.

I can accept that way more than magic time portal because why not just hop on back and stop Palpatine or Bane or literally tell the jedi council everything to stop the rise of the sith? I love sci fi. But not a fan of time travel in Star Wars

Except that was one the reasons he agreed to do Force Awakens, so... nah. Not really.

trust me irony not lost that the reason Fox could shoot in Century City for Die Hard is that they sold that land cause Cleopatra nearly shuttered them is not lost on me:->

A description which, aptly and sadly, applies to most of 20th Century Fox’s films, post-Cleopatra through to about 1980...

To be fair, the aesthetic of the film was VERY MUCH a limitation of their budget. It looks like it does because THEY couldn’t shoot an american ape city, and the helicopters and what not.

Hmm...I googled “Star Wars for adults” and I got something else completely different.

I don’t think so, that would be way too cynical, especially for a Mike Schur show. The moment between Michael and Eleanor at the end of this episode is what his shows live for. Also it’d be too predictable for them to pull another “Michael was working against them all along!” twist.

They can’t ditch Ted Danson, for people of a certain age, he’s the biggest name draw on the marquee. My boomer uncle only watched it because it was the new Ted Danson show.

This. Leaving her out of the trip sets up a Janet based rescue. Either on her own or with Team Cockroach help.

Janet I imagine will save Michael somehow, otherwise she would have gone through the portal with the others.
