Can a character who allows a war to start because she failed to keep her emotions in check qualify as a Mary Sue?

I don’t consider her a Mary Sue. Not just yet. She still has flaws which do not shout Mary Sue.

The term “Mary Sue” has been warped well beyond all usefulness.

I agree. Her death was utterly pointless.

Remember, any hyper-comapntent female in a gemnre story is a Mary Sue, but any hyper-comaptent male is just, you know, part of the universe.

Just finished rewatching the second season of The Expanse before watching this ep - while yeah, Discovery ain’t the best, by any means, having two such absurdly high-budget SF shows on fairly major networks makes me so damn happy as a fan of the genre.
