This is a good idea, although it’s worth noting that you wouldn’t have to set up different minor leagues in Basketball and Baseball. Just force teams to sell their affiliates and promote/relegate in the existing AAA or D league structure.

I’m not sure why Billy is so upset about this TV arrangement. It’s pretty clear he doesn’t watch soccer.

I think this is right. But I also think that MLS will be a “big league” (in America, anyway) in 20, 25 years, and I can see it being #2 (behind the NBA) in 30-40. I think part of the problem is that the owners are spending money and acting like it’s a major league now, which it just isn’t.

The stadium thing in particular is baffling to me. Here in Chicago, our soccer teams play in Toyota Park, which you have to drive to and is in the middle of nowhere. This despite the fact that we have a very capable stadium downtown in Soldier Field.
