So is this “PSA” part of her acting reel now? I just can’t take her seriously ever since she came out as a Lesbian, then 6 month later she is sleeping with Depp because the Lesbian thing didn’t get her as much press as her publicist said it would. She is always just trying to get as much publicity as she can.

You are leaving out a vital section of this story. This happened at a time when America was gripped with “Satanic Panic” and the medical examiner testified that the women were involved in satanic rituals due to the fact that , in her words, it was a common practice of lost lesbians. Don’t know how you missed that.

This disappoints me a little. Yes, we women should do what we want with our faces. But I ascribe to the old school feminist notion that all the time we women are encouraged to put into personal appearance is time we’re not spending actualizing other aspects of our potential. Yes, I wear lipstick and tinted moisturizer

I love make-up money and its wonderful possibilities for temporary permanent transformation. And I also love my face after I wash it all off bank account...There is something exquisitely enjoyable about seeing yourself with a self-made new look, after you buy all the expensive junk with all the money I received as

“focusing on the very personal relationship every woman has to painting her face”

I understand that. But, as a feminist figure, coming up saying that to a major audience while being paid by the makeup industry, while we rarely hear something else anyway, is problematic.

I’m kind of disappointed. She might want her message across, but in the end, it’s still a makeup ad...

There’s one nasty flaw Maura can’t shake: her obliviousness to all the advantages of being a white guy in a male-centric world.

Maura’s worse than the kids. But that’s the point. They are their parents’ children.

I find the whole family extremely unlikeable. It’s been a while since I saw the last season, but that absolutely was my general impression.

I watched Transparent for a while, but I stopped. I just could not stand watching the Maura’s kids.

You should watch it. Great show. And don’t watch the crappily edited episodes on TV.

Heh, I don’t think it is. Ya do kinda have to wonder...

This illustration does not adequately convey the cramped size of Carrie’s apartment. I don’t watch Girls but these plans cannot be to the same scale.

I like that you think that (a) and (b) are separate options. :\

This is “choice feminism” and it is painfully naive as to the realities of the industry.

Porn IS violence against women.

And if the issue here were offense, that would be relevant. It isn’t. Watching Deadpool is unlikely to encourage people to go out and be mercenaries. What you masturbate to, and what it teaches you about women, consent, respect and your own sexuality matters. There’s a difference and if you pretend you can’t see it

Christ, you are naive. “Most of the porn I watch is totally free of coercion, you guys! Only ten to twenty percent of it is problematic, and that’s a fact!”

you are ignoring both the cultural influence on porn and the cultural influence porn has on those who consume it regularly. the gangbangs i saw did not look harmless or feel harmless to me, i found them viscerally upsetting. getting aroused by watching someone else get fucked raw and humiliated is not something i can
