Yuck!

While I’m delighted that Rian Johnson is in such high demand, I can’t help but be a little saddened that his résumé is so long that he’s no longer identified as the “promising director of Brick.”

They’re “often” active in the background if you’ve never even opened them? I’m extremely dubious. I know what an SDK is - that doesn’t have anything to do with when apps are allowed to execute code.

Apps can only violate your privacy / spy on me / serve ads if I run them, though, right? As long as I don’t open them or background them, they’re just inert data sitting there doing nothing. If that’s true, I’m not sure how “privacy” is an argument for deleting extra apps.

“Harassing” oneself isn’t a euphemism, so there is no low-hanging fruit here. The phrase is “abusing” oneself.

Because the proof-of-work blockchain model means that every transaction requires tons of computers all over the world to churn on essentially meaningless computations. Proof-of-work blockchain mining is an environmental disaster, and any NFT on a proof-of-work crypto network is contributing to that disaster. NFTs on

You’re thinking of trademark, not copyright. Trademark law (in the US) requires that you consistently defend your trademark in court or risk losing it. Copyright doesn’t work that way at all.

The world has a finite amount of electrical capacity in the grid, and if this frivolous bullshit takes up a big chunk of renewable energy, someone else has to get their power from non-renewable sources. So this defense of NFTs is patent nonsense until a much larger proportion of the world’s total energy use comes from

Mining is required to verify every single transaction - it’s not a separate action on the blockchain. Read this for more info:

A friend of mine worked at our main local crystal purveyor. He was asked to spruce up the crystal display, and in the process he threw out the descriptions and made up (even more) ludicrous new ones out of thin air.

In five years, not a single patron complained or even noticed.

WHOOSH!

If we gave a fuck about what Tucker Carlson thinks, society as we know it would come to a screeching halt. I’d rather he obssess about a cartoon than incite more violence against the trans community. Distracting him with nonsense is a civic good.

Ah, well if YOU thought that way, then certainly everyone else must have had the exact same reaction. It couldn’t possibly have been internalized by anyone else that sexual harassment is “just a joke”... it’s not like that attitude is utterly prevalent across the generations in the US... wait...

Nuanced thinkers? Yeah, Republicans hate that because they’re fucking morons.

Have the personal integrity to speak up and admit fault when people provide clear evidence that you’re wrong.

Ugh. Have a better take.

Ummm... I’m not out here stanning for households making $160,000 a year during a global pandemic. They’ll be fucking fine.

There are ads on this site?  :0

It doesn’t “damage” it, just leads to suboptimal life of the battery. By babying it, you can extend the life of that particular part - just like you could extend the life of any car by refusing to drive it over salted roads, for example.

“The Cold War is over now” ... what a quaint, optimistic belief.
