A friend of mine worked at our main local crystal purveyor. He was asked to spruce up the crystal display, and in the process he threw out the descriptions and made up (even more) ludicrous new ones out of thin air.

It doesn’t “damage” it, just leads to suboptimal life of the battery. By babying it, you can extend the life of that particular part - just like you could extend the life of any car by refusing to drive it over salted roads, for example.

There is no “vacuum of information” just now being filled. We’ve known since late spring or early summer of last year exactly what everyone needs to do to be responsible. If you’re going to be completely disingenuous in your arguments, then you deserve the “stay home asshole” response.

The lack of a perfect option doesn’t absolve you from trying your best. There’s a whole spectrum of ways to behave, so let’s all try to do better. That’s what living in a community is all about.
