Your ignorance of how businesses actually operate is staggering. There’s more to Nintendo’s business model than just selling games and hardware - they also have to tend to their brand. Every company does a whole variety of things that earn them no direct profit in order to cultivate customers who spend money later on.…

Why on Earth would the legal department OR the shareholders care about releasing schematics to a defunct connector they don’t even make anymore? It touches on absolutely nothing concerning to shareholders, and what legal question does it raise?

You’re completely ignoring the fact that the question very specifically included the contingency, “or release the schematics.” If Nintendo has no plans to ever manufacture and sell the cables again, why would they not release the schematics to the public so someone else could take on the job at their own expense?
