I live in New Zealand. Most European and North American manufactured cars have the indicator stalk on the left, most Japanese on the right. We do get some weird UKDM Japanese cars sold here, that aren’t sold in Australia, so they don’t have right hand indicators. The Toyota Avensis being the most notable. We have a

I mean great idea and all... but before I read the article all I saw was an ankle bracelet for those who prefer their own rules to the ones signed by a head of state.

Umm because the car would do insanely well in South Africa, which has large import duties for foreign built cars. Australia used to source their Focii from South Africa. I doubt they will build the Maverick in Thailand. Small weird pickups are popular in South Africa, so it seems a natural place to build it.

The real reason this won’t be sold in Europe is tax. Yes, the Escape is sold in Europe, but its built in Spain. They will not be tooling up the factory to build this too, they wouldn’t sell enough to justify it. Importing this from the USA would attract too much duty at put the price point closer to the Ranger. Which

Woop! I’m pretty short!

Yeah, it also looks really nice. Mine are both forward facing now too.

I kinda want the previous gen 440i GC as I have two kids... but I’m not sure how a car seat will go in the back. As for the new one, the normal coupe looks a lot better in the flesh especially with a front plate and in a dark colour, but I’m still not convinced

If it helps Toyota New Zealand has released the specs for the three models we will get here. Unfortunately we don’t get the base GX and GXL variants that they have in Australia, but this gives a good idea... best news is the GR will have front and rear lockers!!! (now where did I put that hedge fund) https://www.toyota

I care in that our government keeps upping the tax on fuel and using the money to not build infrastructure (yay socialism!). Joking aside yes and no. I don’t like a boring car that gobbles fuel. I don’t mind paying for fuel if I’m getting enjoyment from it. On the flip side, I also don’t want to be driving a tiny

The used car thing! Heck yeah! My car is about to reach its balloon payout. Plan had always been to trade it... well - its gone up in value in 12 months!!! BUT to replace it with something used (we can’t justify buying another new car right now and even if we wanted it, we can’t get it due to stock shortages) we can’t

They only put the the spare tire on the back for markets that have the long range fuel tank now. Otherwise Prado’s now come with a “flat back” so yes side opening door, but at least the window pops open. I can’t believe they didn’t invert the door for left hand drive markets, even more so when they slap a Lexus badge

Totally agree. This is why the hybrid RAV4 is so successful. Its normal. It looks just like the RAV4 that everyone is used to, unlike the stupid Prius which was just polarising. Same with this truck. Its an electric F150. It does what it says on the tin. You don’t buy it to show how much of an EV evangelist you are.

Wow! I wish that were the case where I am... Used LandCruiser Prado’s are selling for $2-6k under the list price for a brand new one because they can’t get new stock. Same for the Fortuner (which I am seriously considering) a 2-3 year old one is about $5k less than a new one. The new one has more power more tech and a

Every day I get closer and closer to moving to the bush and living off the land...

I totally agree. How desperately do you need a new car? Like whats so wrong with what you have right now. Wait. Just wait.

Why not re-badge Peugeots as Chryslers? The 508 is a great medium sized sedan, they have a large one already in the 300. Peugeot sell a fantastic range of really good looking and quite good crossovers. The 3008 and 5008 would sell well in the USA. They are Tiguan competitors. The big frog mouths lend themselves well

Toyota New Zealand did something about this. They turned their sales model upside down. Franchise dealers no longer hold stock. Toyota NZ holds the stock. Demonstrators are owned by Toyota. Prices are fixed. You want a Corolla, its $25k. No negotiation. The dealers exist to service and act as sales agents. When they

I am so glad some one else put a Volvo on this list. My most unreliable car was my 1998 Volvo S80 2.9 (or 2.8 I don’t really care). It would constantly flash up “Drive Slow Service Urgent” because I might put in different fuel. Not different grades, but different brands. One week I might put in Mobil, the next BP. The

Oh you northern hemisphere people with your upside down weather. Christmas in Winter? Are you mad?!!! For us down here Christmas means long hot road trips to see family. Trips to the beach. As a teen my friends and I used to pile into my dads 4Runner and head to the beach with rear window rolled down, diesel fumes

I test drove one 18 months or so ago. It is not a good car, for like you know doing car stuff. But man I want one! Its hilariously good fun to drive. Unfortunately its too small for us, we have an 18 month old and a 5 year old, so even as a second car its too small. But I figure Suzuki keep their Jimny’s in production
