So you agree with me? The 3 is selling because it moved up market... the Picanto is selling because its cheap, its the exception not the rule and kinda proves my point. And to be totally honest, the Rio is one of the largest cars in its class so it is a bad example, same with the Polo. But Ford pulled the Fiesta

And for $3k more you can have a Cerato drive away*. $3,000 over say 4 years financed works out at $15 per week (rough maths). Why on earth would you buy a Rio? I think you are missing my point, its that cars the next size up aren’t that much more expensive. To make small cars worth it, they need to be so much cheaper

The salient point is that its the cost - You’ve seen the price of the new Yaris right? They can’t make them cheap anymore. Unless you want a total stripper with nothing in it. We had a VW Polo which we traded on a Ford Kuga 6 months ago because it was too small for a four person family, especially with a rear facing

They are pulling small cars off the lots in New Zealand and Australia too. And its not like our fuel is cheap. They are too small and too compromised and cannot be made cheaply any more due to all the safety and emissions stuff. There isn’t that much difference in price between a Yaris and a Corolla. You know which

Don’t be ridiculous. They aren’t actually going to let people drive the RAV4s! That would be silly. Its more like “see how the RAV4's door mirrors just fall off” *salesman hits door mirror with a hammer* “Well the Nissan won’t do that” *suddenly a transmission explodes in the parking lot* “ahhh that was a Hyundai”

I am the worlds biggest BMW apologist. I can accept the X7, I loved the bangle 7 series... but this thing... yikes!

If you want a proper off-road ready Amarok, get the manual. It has a two speed transfer case and selectable 4WD. The reality is most Amarok buyers are ‘lifestyle’ truck buyers and aren’t exactly buying them for their ‘Truck-ness’ despite them being really quite good.

Lawrence nailed it with a second gen Highlander. We had one when we lived in Australia. We bought it for 2 reasons. We lived half way between Sydney and Melbourne and my wife had to frequently drive the 2 and a bit hours to Canberra for work. The Highlander ate up the highways. It was and I maintain is the most

No it doesn’t. When I go kayaking, I leave my phone in the car. I have to take the silly little door key out of the fob on my keyless car, lock the fob and phone in my car using the keyhole like it’s 1993 all over again. Carefully wrap the key (I ocean kayak I don’t want rust) in a waterproof bag. But it inside my dry

Get a 3.6 liter Outback. Reliable comfortable mildly off road able. But if you want to head on a massive road trip, it will absolutely eat up the miles in total comfort

This is so cool. It is now officially the worlds most practical vehicle. A frunk storing things. AND a bed for carting things. Also I like that it has buttons for stuff and not a touch screen for everything - not calling a certain EV manufacturer out here at all....

I think they are... EV’s have an air of cool about them. I’m not an environmentalist to any degree, but I do care about the future of this planet. I’m considering a PHEV as my next car. I like the idea of city commuting emissions free (something like 80% of our electricity in New Zealand is renewable), but have an ICE

Ah yes the Holden Suburban. That was a sales stunner...

I think the Japanese ones had the V8... I might be wrong.

I think you are refferring to the Holden Drover (Suzuki SJ from the 1980s) and the Holden Cruze (Suzuki Ignis AWD from the early ‘00s) not to be confused with the Holden Cruze (Chevrolet Cruze) from the mid ‘00s and ‘10s. “Holden - scraping off badges of other people’s cars since ages ago”

Is this not just the Tiguan the rest of the world gets? We have the 5 seat Tiguan and the 7 seat Tiguan Allspace...

What I find particularly strange is that apart from JDM imports we didn’t get the Blazer in Australia and New Zealand. Given that we are a RHD market and at the time Holden could have done with a decent mid-sized SUV. They had the horrible Holden(Isuzu/Vauxhall) Frontera and the dated but OK Holden (Isuzu/Vauxhall)

I like the M4 the crazy grille kinda works on a coupe. Buuut the M3 nope. M3's are suppossed to under the radar sleeper sleek-mobiles. This just isn’t.

I did a dumb thing and fitted the incorrect blades to my Outback and now I have huge swathes of my windscreen not being wiped. I will remedy this, this weekend. But right now it is doing my head in. I use them, even if there is just the teeny tiniest wee bit of water on my windscreen

Yup. Or a mildly used M3...
