Yeah, in the the Bloomberg link, in this post, that talked about cost, it was pointed out that current high speed rail is at about $154M per mile. So Hyperloop is currently estimated at 1/3 the cost... This is a super weird article that feels like it had no editorial oversight. Why is a tech that’s 3x the cost and 3x s

Definitely. But also it looks way better on that a100 in your pic.

This already doesn’t meet US LATCH requirements. In the US you are required to have 3 tethers in the vehicle if there are 3 or more rear seating positions. So the middle row would have to have 3 tethers to meet US LATCH rules. 49 CFR 517.225 S4.3(b)(1) for anyone curious.
If it did have 3 on the middle row it isn’t

Prices have gone up for sure, the 7k Quickjack was regularly on sale for $1100. Also Gregg Smith closed here in Portland. Which is lame.

I’ve never seen a 2 post delivered on a lift gate and so far I haven’t seen a single company that doesn’t qualify that their shipping will not use a lift gate, be interested if you have one you can point out. Although it doesn’t change the part where we are comparing $1100-1700 delivered and ready to use versus a $3k-4

For sure, but that would add even more cost.

Yep they sell refurbs online also and usually have a couple for around that same price. Same warranty as new. It’s really a reasonable price if you do your own work.

Yeah, jack stands are not likely to add safety to this as the car will have a lateral movement when it drops. I did see a guy cut and split some chromoly tubing that he strapped to the piston as a secondary safety. The people who think you will tip this sideways are crazy. Assuming you are lifting a 3000 lb car using

4 post lifts are rarely less than $4k and 2 post lifts require concrete that is flat and level, 5" - 6" thick, 3000 PSI grade, with embedded anchors, to install. Both are usually so large and heavy that they require a forklift or power hoist to unload, a lift gate is not sufficient. Most home garages are sloped,

Apples and Oranges

$2-3k gets you the parts of a 2 post lift. You then have to either have a thick and flat enough floor to handle it or you have to cut out a section of the current floor and install flat concrete footings. 5"-6" of 3000 PSI concrete cures in 2-4 weeks. Nearly all home garages have a slope and are not

Want and need are 2 different things. It also wants to report the location back so that they get more data points. If you don’t give it location data it still works just fine. It just doesn’t report the location back to Apple.

It doesn’t need your location at all. It’s just monitoring for a BT signal.

Still. I hope it’s somewhat modular. Most screen tech doesn’t need to update but WiFi, security, and video codec standards do change and sometimes require new hardware.

Honestly it depends on if they start allowing eGPUs to bridge Thunderbolt. If I can bridge two thunderbolt cables to get reasonably close to internal PCIe 4 speeds then then I can use my a pro card when I need it and have a laptop the rest of the time. That’s pipe dream though with no real discussion from

The lack of agency you seem to think people in wheel chairs have is disturbing. How do you think normal bus driving works? Driver randomly leaves the bus to go pee? No, they are adults that plan for when they will have a reasonable stop. But if they did need to get out portable aluminum ramps exist and are made to be

I responded to your comment about the emergency pilot being able to being mobility impaired. You think they are getting on and off the non service prototype at random places? No, they return the unit to storage at every break and at the end of the day. If we were talking about the final product I’d agree with you. But

Sure they can. The equipment would just be independent of the vehicle. This is already how planes, trains, and trams work. They pull up to a level service or ramp. Do you think people in wheel chairs are completely helpless? There’s a limit obviously. Some one who’s impairment includes sight or quadriplegia obviously

That’s not true, they used a Chevy bolt for their early version and both the lockers and the wheelchair kit are literally mocked up add-ons that aren’t in production to a vehicle they have barely produced and does not come standard with wheelchair access. You can see the image at the base of their own page and the

It’s a prototype testing unit. IDK any vehicle manufacturer that makes wheel chair accessible prototypes. Seems weird to be mad that people in wheel chairs can’t get into the protoype that isn’t carrying any people other than the emergency pilot.

Still lighter and and in a race you don’t have to remove the rim to change the tube if you get flat.
