In each of the two regular juries I was on, the judge always asked someone on the jury if they were willing to be foreman. After we were chosen, and the judge was talking to us prior to the case beginning, they always asked for a show of hands for people who’d been on juries before. Then they’d pick one of the ones

Yeah. Pączki are available in the supermarkets here year round. Presumably because people eat them year round. This is actually the first time I’ve heard of them being specifically a Fat Tuesday treat. Though I would assume any treat could be a Fat Tuesday treat.

Especially considering this was 1 teaspoon of dried mustard in a huge amount of sauce. The pureed tomatoes and water are 3 gallons by themselves. Some of that would be reduced in the cooking, but there’s also the gallon of onions, which along with the garlic would be mostly cooked down. And then there’s 5 pounds of

The recipe says “oil or shortening” and I’m guessing that’s because in the post-war period vegetable oil - and olive oil in particular - may have still been in short supply. People made do. And in the US shortening was probably more easily available, and much less expensive, than olive oil.

In the US vermicelli is thinner than spaghetti and thicker than angel hair.

Yeah, these are the kind of people who would neve dream of giving away the food. Because they spent good money on that! If they can’t recoup at least some of their money from it, then they’d rather it be thrown out.

I think I missed those. But the Lay’s Guacamole chips were awsome!

I used to have that record! I may still have it somewhere, but it’s been decades since I’ve had a record player.

They need to start breeding chickens with extra sets of wings. Isn’t this why we have genetic engineering? C’mon scientists! Get working on this!

Never saw it, but I’m assuming broadcast and basic cable just bleep the word.

Yeah, I’m thinking maybe they just ate enough of them to get the remaining weight under the point where they would have to pay extra.

Yeah, I’m sure it’s the child actor thing. Drew probably completed her schooling via tutors and a GED to accommodate her acting schedule, and probably just assumed that all other child actors were the same way.

Now playing

Well he’s a piker compared to Kip Addotta:

That’s how we get dumb shit like Feinstein complimenting Graham in how he orchestrated rushing a SCOTUS seat to be filled and giving him a hug.”

The whole “germaphobe” thing has always been a load of BS. It’s only been something his handlers have put out to try to explain how rude, and just plain weird the guy is.

Well apparently you weren’t paying attention in Driver’s Ed. When parking on a hill pointing downward, and there is a curb, you are supposed to turn your steering wheel toward the curb and let your car roll forward until the front tire touches the curb. This way you’re using the curb as a block to stop any downward

So is it okay to wear a Miskatonic University hoodie (“Home of the Fighting Cephalopods!”) even if you don’t worship Cthulu?

The main thing that got them was the debt they piled up by expanding too quickly. But I’m sure the proliferation of rotisserie chickens in supermarkets was another nail in their coffin. One that was brought on by their initial success.

I read somewhere - probably here - that the rights to each of the Netflix Marvel shows would revert to Marvel/Disney two years after the last season was released. Season 3 of Daredevil was released in November 2018, so Disney should have the rights back now.

In many places, it’s not always HR that does the interviewing. Or perhaps not all of the interviewing. They might do a preliminary interview before the person is passed on to the supervisors/managers where the employee would be working.
