No one should have had to make this into a real sign...

UNIONIZE.

I guess I could have limited my quote to the description of my eating habits, but as I mentioned elsewhere, I never used one growing up. My mother uses hers for Thanksgiving and Christmas, that’s it. So when I only have a cup and maybe some utensils (I probably ordered food anyway so no plates), they can sit in the

Amongst folks I know, quite common.

People who don’t have large families don’t use enough dishes to fill it before they run out of dishes/things they need to use again. My parents haven’t run their dishwasher in 15 years.

I have one but rarely run it. Usually it’s just a few dishes that barely fill up the machine, and I don’t like putting my pots and pans in the machine.

See, what *I* find very disturbing about the scene is that, as the great Dana Gould and Dan Vebber pointed out years ago, it’s played for laughs. Both ANH and ESB have torture scenes, and they are kinda disturbing and y’know why? Because they are torture scenes.

This is my favorite thing that you’ve ever written, and you’re my favorite auto journalist (tied with Chris Harris). I’m a car guy into VWs who loves Star Wars to an almost obsessive level. I’m evil-you, and I say carry on, good-me.

AKSHUALLY...

Tough shit, chuckles!

This is a really thoughtful piece, thanks.

One also thinks of those mechanistic natural philosophers from the 17th/18th centuries who saw animals as machines. That meant that it was fine to do live vivisections on them: since animals were machines, then their cries as they were being cut open were not from pain, but

I love that you wrote this - Since 1983 I have thought about this exact thing from that exact scene.

Screw exclusives. Gamers waste a lot of breath complaining about day one DLC, lack of physical disks, casual mobile games and all manner of ultimately meaningless bullshit while then turning around and rewarding the worst of all anti-consumer tactics: exclusives.

Exclusives should die a horrible death.   And any

Except art is not a consumable resource making your analogy totally wrong.

When I was 15-20, I would have loved this. I’d be ecstatic if my entry was accepted and would spend that $50 (or whatever) in celebration pizza and alcohol.

Small streamer here.

You only get paid if you get hired to do the job, though. And many artists (whether experienced or just fresh out of college/highschool) tend to create portfolios filled with works they have done even if they haven’t been used in any projects or created from their free time.

Ugh. This response is such garbage.

If they don’t use your art, they don’t own it though. So this is different from “we will consume the resource and then decide whether to compensate you.”
