Had the same thing happen but found the key location. Left side of the dash near where you would have a parking brake release. Could not find it for hours.

He is right on this one. I am a proud former owner of a 2006 CLS 55 and it shares the power train. I should have never sold the car. The torque is addicting. The car was absolutely bulletproof also with no issues other than a silly transmission drain plug at one point. I miss it every day.
