Sincerely curious, but why do you use the "right click on existing tab -> new tab" rather than "single click on the new tab button" or ctrl+t ? And if you dislike shortcuts: you can find the 'reopen' option in the three dot menu in the top right.
Not on my computer right now, but ctrl+shift+tab will definetly stay and the same option can be found in the three dot menu in the top right (under history if I am not very mistaken (I virtually always use the shortcut)). So this is just a move to deduplicate certain items.
