I suspect the ship was designed specifically for vertical/short take-off and landing aircraft like the F-35, which don’t need massive speed to get airborne. The ramp probably helps them on their way up without putting too much of a strain on the aircraft or crew. I imagine hitting that ramp off a catapult launch would…
