I go to Goodwood every other year. The car parks are always full of interesting cars, but the one worth seeking out is the VIP car park, which last year was next to the Supercar Paddock. Anyone can park in it, you just pay a premium as it’s right next to the event so doesn’t involve a 20 min walk to get on site.…
For me, washing my car is strangely therapeutic in the same way that a lot of mechanical simple tasks can be. But then again, why wouldn’t I look after my car, it’s the second most expensive thing I own after my house.
It’s possible it’s a montage, but it could also have been shot on a large format camera which has had tilt adjustment applied to compensate for the distortion of a wide angle lens. But, yeah, the perspective in this is whack.
In the UK, this joke now applies to Audi drivers. It was BMW for years, but for whatever reason it’s now Audi.
I will add, I DO like driving my car, and have been known to take it for a quick blast after washing it and telling high command I was clearing rust off the rotors ;o)
Also, does anybody else notice how small the discs are on many Porsche? Even that 911 in the article looks like someone has built a kit car 911 out of an MR2
Sometimes it does bother me, as in just after washing my car I will often take it for a quick spin to clear the rust off the rotors, but if I’m just walking past my car into the house and notice the rotors are rusty after a recent spate of wet weather, I’ll just shrug and move on
Surely that only works for Triumph cars. Or bikes. Lots of mention of triumph in the bible. Nothing about Ferrari I don’t think
How easy is the 600LT to get in and out of sans roof? I found the tin top version very difficult to get into when I was at Goodwood FoS last year, primarily due to the 9” deep side bolsters on the seat. I am 6’4” though
I kid you not, a few years ago there was a practically brand new Rolls Royce Phantom DHC listed on Pistonheads.com for sale, and at the top of the ad the words “Unwanted Gift” were written.
If you do a bit of digging, I think you’ll find that Ian Callum is widely held to be responsible for the design of the DB9. Fisker just happened to be head of design at AM at the time and took the credit. Might explain his hand bitingly ugly designs since.
I always call the VW Touareg a Toe rag.
My uncle bought one of these new in the 70s. It needed a new engine at <2k miles. Having said that, I love the XJC and think it’s one of the prettiest coupes from the 70s. However, in fantasy land, no money concerns, I’d want to have one of these completely rebuilt by someone like Eagle. Yes, it might cost £200k, but…
