Too soon?

Heh. Jalpa for me. Or the uber-rare Silhouette.

Christ with his pants down, that is awful!!!

I had one. Always hated that part of it.

Now I have to go rinse out my skull

Oh look, another stupid rule for people who need to be told what to do about things that are fluid, dynamic, unpredictable, variable, or personal. I read the same pabulum about buying watches, cameras, stereo systems, ad infinitum.

You made your point without even pulling in members of the The Church of Subaru. I doff my cap to you, good sir!

Do it, but negotiate the price down. I know negotiating is infuriating to some people/generations, but this is a great car that's a wee bit overpriced.

First gear: so sad. By now you would think Toyota's "Toyota Production System" and pull manufacturing JIT methods would rule the day for auto makers... I guess 30 years of success doesn't speak loud enough.

So much this.

Thanks for your thoughts. I think 4 door will be the way to go, though as we age (in our early 50s now), bouncing around in a Wrangler is less exciting than it once was. We like the Grand Cherokee a lot, but man, so many trims out there that I don't even like thinking about it - decision paralysis.

This goes all the way back to the Datsun changeover. No surprise.

According to your replies, I guess I'm the only Gen X-er you accurately described. I have a phobia of wagons, but where you are inaccurate is that my phobia is RATIONAL, not irrational. They're fugly, which is a perfectly rational and defensible case against them. Yes I'm vain, and car designers know this.

I take a Freudian interpretation on the drivers of those things... 😉

Nailed it. My mom drove a Datsun B210, so I hate wagons. Dad drove Suburbans, so I hate SUVs. And so for me, a CUV is everything I hate about both of those. I'll be just fine in my sedans.

I wish I never got it. Only way for me to be somewhat happy with it was to pull the rear bench out so now it’s a two-seater with some cargo space. Once I’m truly sick of it, I’ll probably go four-door. Unlike most other Jeeps though mine actually goes off-road, so its stance, vertical clearance, torque, etc all make

Discman user here. That adapter was a stroke of genius. Great article!

LOL! This guy tells the truth on internet forums. 👍

Same. Owner of a 2011 Wrangler 2 door and I hate it. Four doors all the way.

Yes! My favorite supercar, bar none. Saw a GT5 when I was a kid in the mid 80s and have swooned over these ever since. And given they’re a PITA to drive makes it all the more appealing.
