If a the retirement plan is based on a single company's stock then you have a diversification risk. I'm even against only much stock in the company you work for as your income and your savings would have a high correlation (beta=1 for you stock market types).

I used a mutual fund to save into not a Savings account. The reason was that it took a day or two to get the money out. So it's available in case of emergency but difficult to get when you're just spending money.

Saving some money in your 20's is like saving a lot of money in your late 30's or 40's. I've posted this link to a spreadsheet before - dump in your numbers and compare.

I've run two streams of Netflix, one US one Canada at the same time with no issues.

I switched to pods for laundry and for dishwasher for this reason. I know I'm paying more per use, but I'm not over using the product. I'm fairly sure I'm ahead on the deal.

For a family its much harder to cut the cord. Some shows just aren't available online easily. The little bit of sports I watch isn't available either without going through hoops.

I have to have cable for one the TV show my daughter loves and Sunday night football. Drives me batty.

Have to agree with you -

On my resume I just put a link to my blog in the education/courses area. That's the last thing on my resume so it doesn't detract or distract from anything.

What I love about Excel is that you can do much the same thing in different ways. You're using offset() a function I never use, I'd use vlookup or a pivot table. Same result different process.

Excel can do so much that I doubt you could really learn it all. It's learning how to do the task at hand that will stay with you.

Keeping mail is a distraction, flag for action what needs to be actioned and pitch the rest. If you can't bear to delete something at minimum move it out of your inbox and into a different archive folder you don't need to look at.

My work Blackberry is on silent and only flashes when I get mail, it is the best thing I've ever done to create productivity.

Macros and learning to play with Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) coding is like speed for Excel. Don't be afraid to search for what you're trying to do most of the time you can find the answer on a forum and just paste in the VBA code into your workbook.

Rock salt is becoming scarce to buy this winter - at least around here. You can also use water softener salt (salt is salt after all), just don't get the stuff that's shaped like a big pill. The cheaper stuff is finer and more rough edged.

I've never done a video interview but I've done a number of telephone interviews. One tip I've used is to have a mirror setup so you can see your face. If you're smiling it will come through in your tone.

If you mean the canned shaving creams like foamy or the gels - they just aren't as good and are more expensive.

I've learned that lesson too.
