The "totally worth it" expression.
Exactly. The gauges look like they came off the shelf of whatever big box store. The real tragedy is that some of the most beautiful looking dashboards in old cars were the ones that CAME with the cars. Not some generic cluster of round gauges stuck to a chrome plate. BTW, I LOVE those old packards. Beautiful machines.
I restore/renew 30s and 40s cars, mostly Packard, and I have to agree with you. In my opinion, the worst thing here is the interior. The modern seats look out of place, and the modern gauge panel is shit. Nothing bothers me more in a classic/hotrod than seeing modern, cheap looking gauges. Especially the bolted on…
A fellow Jalop and I went to the Good Guys show this last weekend at Texas Motor Speedway. I left my '54 Bel Air at home as I don't really consider her show-worthy yet.
Yep, I lose count of how many Camaros and Chevelles I saw with the same wheels and modifications. The only reason I didn't include Mustangs is because there weren't many of them. The ones there were either reasonably street rodded or as they were from the factory.
Agreed. Went to a quite large classic car show this weekend, so many cars looked exactly the same, that it was refreshing to see some with white wall tires and minimal chrome.
As an owner of a non-hot-rodded classic I myself am sort of tired of "Hot rods" in general. To me so many of these look the same. Lotsa' chrome, ridiculous wheels, and paint that's borderline tacky. I would have been more excited had this been a story about actual reproduction F-100's down to the double-ply tires,…
When I was young a lot of people hated on the AMC Eagle. Now it's a cult classic.
I hope I never live to see the day that a PT cruiser is considered a "beautiful classic"... Even saying those words in the same sentence gives me the shivers.
It's amusing talking about this kind of stuff with my father, because he's old enough he remembers when these kind of vehicles were considered ugly workhorses, and now they're considered beautiful classics. Think it says something about the quality of modern vehicle design when an old work truck is considered better…
Ya, but they have tentacles on them.
Doesn't matter really unless they actually take whatever concept eventually shows up to some form of reality.
Love me some TE's.
I would say you're in need of an older one.
Illusion though it is, you knew right away that it wasn't an Impala. What Impala has ever worn a set of Volk TE37s?
