Yep- even 23 years later I will never forget the birthing of my 10lb 11 oz bundle of joy- and I have the vaginal tag to prove it

I had a midwife with my last 3 kids- the first in a hospital and the last 2 at home- although the last one required a trip to the hospital due to tearing and heavy bleeding- come on he was well over 10 lbs! And our insurance covered them all.

First birth was in a hospital with a dr. Second a midwife in a hospital. Last two, with a midwife at home.

The year was 1978. I had begged for the “ Marie Osmond” haircut- short- and my mother had dressed my older brother and I in identical light blue polyester suits.

I would watch Audra McDonald sing the fucking phone book for 2 hours and love every second.

When I was born in a military hospital in 1969 a black dr delivered me. When my racist grandfather found out he FREAKED out and wouldn’t touch me until I had been out of the hospital for over a week. He yelled at my dad for “ allowing” a black man to “manhandle” his daughter ( my mother).

Another fun dad fact- he now only texts in emojis- you have to figure out what he’s saying- he calls it brain games

My dad is the sweetest, kindest most loving man I know. He volunteers endlessly for multiple non profits in our community- the women’s shelter, soup kitchen, homeless assistance task force- he is a man of strong opinions on the treatment of his fellow person on earth.

I feel ya- we also had some struggles with a mentally ill and emotionally abusive mom - my step kiddos are adults now and still talk to her but know that we are a safe home for them to retreat to.

I’m a frequent taller/ injured and I always figure if it doesn’t get better within a day or so better get it checked out.

Loose chickens in our neighborhood attract predators and that makes me sad.

We’ve had loose chicken search in our neighborhood and my husband goes over and kindly shows them how to keep the poor things from wandering.

We did all that. And we live in neighborhood with a dreaded HOA that has been able to do NOTHING.

We’ve hosted dozens of Ween friends over the years- bring on the Jezabels!

One of my neighbors has a rooster I want to kill and eat.
