The insult just bounced right off of him.....
The insult just bounced right off of him.....
His heart lacks song.
Thank you for this info. I bogged down in book 4 which seemed... just dull compared to the others. If 5 and 6 are really good, I’m now motivated to go back and slog through it....
A tiny, tiny part of me kinda hopes that Marvel plans to troll its entire fanbase by making Nick’s little pager signal summon... a performance by The Clash at Demonhead.
Bernard decides he has to abandon Elsie because Ford is trying to push him into killing her. Why didn’t Ford have Bernard kill her in the first place?
A small point that I don’t think has been mentioned (and apologies in advance if it has): Ford makes it clear that Bernard is a “copy” of Arnold made from the memories of Arnold held by Ford and Dolores, and that the copy, in the Cradle, was good enough to fool Dolores. And we also see Ford’s AI brain taking control…
Succinctly: he gave her the free will to choose to do the thing he knew she’d choose to do. Which raises the issues you note.
Hell yeah. And that’s really saying something, too.
Nah. They did what they should have done: see what the fuel burn was like riding the car hard enough to stay in the lead, and stay out for as long as possible (because, as you note -- you never know; you could finish under yellow and juuuuuust sneak in). When they hit fumes, they had to come in to splash & go for…
I can’t stop myself from wanting to always call him “Will Power, Nietzschean Superhero”....
Will is a helluva driver, and I’m actually a little surprised it took him a decade to win at Indy.....
It became very clear very quickly that the new aero package was giving the drivers very little margin for error on the turns. All the spins/wall contacts were almost identical — a little bit of oversteer becomes…
In the abstract, I’m not particularly engaged by Maeve’s story at all. But damned if Thandie Newton hasn’t acted the hell out of it to the point where I DO care now. Man, is she great. (Also, while she’s a beautiful woman, I’m really glad that they let her keep her damn clothes on this season. I found a lot of her…
I think Ford’s new game was creating a situation where multiple hosts achieved sentience and began spreading free will to the other hosts. The game is that there will be no game going forward: nothing will be scripted; everything will arise from one or more hosts’ free will.
What I really want to know is precisely why…
Mesh network = distributed computing. Just sayin’.....
Hey now — tiger hunting is no walk in the park. The Raj is for active racists!
And which loot crate does it drop from?
And don’t forget the meta-meta: one of the stars of Magnificent Seven, which was a direct copy of Seven Samurai, was Yul Brynner, the original star of Westworld....
As others have noted: because it’s a consumer good, not a history lesson.
I liked that aside, because it shows the extent to which Nolan/Joy and the writers have thought about (and apparently worked out) the practical aspects of how a real park like this would operate.
Yeah, I don’t get the brain erasing people. The tech who did the deed talked about how he wouldn’t stay together without a full reboot; that to me says that she’s overlaying a new personality into him, not erasing his brain. If his brain was being erased, who cares if he holds together?
Also, I’m not 100% sure that…
