I disagree. Most of the fundamentals are the same — the character names, their general roles in the plot, many of the details of the society in which the story takes place. It’s very clear that the film was based on the book - the book is just significantly different. The film mainly adds things for dramatic purposes…

A bit old school... but Logan’s Run (which made wholesale changes to the original novel’s storyline) is quite a bit better than the book.

Had a friend who used him for a commercial he produced. Said he was just the nicest guy in the world. My cousin ran into him in a restaurant once, too. Ditto — didn’t mind when they just said hello to him at his table, and then caught up with them after he was finished to thank them and chat.

I’ve had an.... interesting life, and have met/interacted with more than a few celeb types in my life. Ultimately, they’re just people. Some are great, some are assholes, some are probably mentally ill in some way. But to call out some of the better ones:
