Basically by defining “inside the park home run” as any home run that does not involve clearing the fence on the fly.

I would assume they were all distracted by their involvement in a very spirited dubsmash competition surrounding Adele’s “Hello”.

Nope. A ball bouncing over the outfield wall is not an automatic double. Per the rules, a batter is entitled to advance two bases when a ball bounces over the wall. If you have a speedy runner and a very long drive, the ball can bounce over the wall AFTER the runner has touched and passed first base. In those cases,

Another one: It’s technically possible to hit a ground rule inside-the-park home run.

BUUUUUUUT it’s super fun to try and top it!

That is indeed what I meant. Stewart is definitely a more versatile player than Kareem was; she can effectively score both inside and outside. Kareem was not particularly great more than, say, 15 feet from the hoop. But within that area, he was almost unstoppable. (In college, that is — in the pros, with much better

Stewart gets compared to Durant, but really she’s better compared with Lew Alcindor, now Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. She’s a “we can only contain her by changing the rules” kind of player.

There’s no deduction at all with a Roth 401k or a “regular” Roth. The advantage is that the income in the account will not be subject to tax, so long as it’s been at least 5 years since you opened your first Roth account, and the distribution from the account is “qualifying” — which = any distribution after you’re 59

“Meldonium” really sounds like something that should involve the X-Men in some way.

“I did believe him, Dan, because I felt that if in any way he sensed I didn’t believe him, he’d have beaten the shit out of me, even though I’m not a woman.”

I’m a little rusty, but I believe there are very limited situations in which a Federal court must apply, or at least respect, state jurisdiction rules of procedure. I’m confident, though, that this is not one of them.

His factual pleading is a cut-and-paste of Michael McCann’s article for Sports Illustrated.

Also, he spelled “Foxborough” wrong.

Helpful hint, Seth: class action filings do not involve “a bunch of people” vs. defendants. There’s a named class representative (or representatives) who become(s) the lead plaintiff(s) in the suit, and you then seek certification of a class that encompasses all similarly-situated potential plaintiffs.

Oh my god. Just... oh my god. I’m laughing hysterically at the Maine discipline report. I’m 99% sure this guy’s law training consists of “owning AND watching the DVD of My Cousin Vinnie”.

Thanks! It sounded vaguely insane to me, and I also couldn’t believe you’d do it without some kind of triggering injury involved. That’s not an easy or pain-free rehab process.

I thought I’ve read things in the past about young pitchers (possibly high schoolers?) having “preemptive” TJ surgery, as the reconstructed ligament is inevitably stronger than the original one. Did you encounter any of that, and what do the leading surgeons think of that from a practical/ethical standpoint?

I’m holding out for Twitch Plays QB For the Browns.

Part of me would love to see Chip managing the Red Sox, where Shaughnessy and his ilk will write an entire column about how you’re a deficient MLB manager who should be fired after you make a bad bullpen decision in a relatively meaningless game in July against the Twins....

Monday: /spends 35 minutes of his show counting sheep
