LOL. Have you never watched a debate before? Nothing happened at the last debate that wasn’t par for the course for the last 250 years.

They don’t. If you want to prove you are capable of being leader of the free world, the first step is to prove you can handle a rude question. FFS, how incompetent are these candidates? Deflecting an unflattering query and making yourself look good is Debate 101.

It’s mind-boggling to think Denver is doing this with Gary Kubiak and Wade Phillips playing significant roles.

I KNOW! Hillary really kills in debates. I thought that she was amazing in the 2008 Democratic debates in terms of the information she was able to convey and the policy she knew. The trick for any democratic nominee (and I agree that it will be Clinton) is going to be not going all Al Gore and sighing/showing

I am pretty sure “villainize the media as a whole and try to take control of it,” is Fox News’ founding mission statement.

Exactly right— snarky. Make the question itself hard, don’t just use rude language or call people names, etc. I think the problem is that the networks are trying to get ratings, and most viewers won’t understand difficult questions about foreign policy, etc., or just don’t care. So they go with sensationalist stuff

I appreciate “mean” questions as they give the candidates a chance to actually respond to their criticisms. Anderson Cooper was “mean” and I was THERE for it. I wanted to hear how Bernie Sanders answers questions about being a “dirty commie” and Hillary Clinton answer what is really going on with these Benghazi panels

The President needs to have a thick enough skin to handle ‘mean’ questions. SUCK IT UP WHINNY BABIES! You think the leaders of N Korea, China, Iran, and Russia (among others) are going to worry terribly much if they hurt the poor lil defenseless feelings of a bunch of grown ass men? If they’re not ready for tough

I don’t think the questions were mean per se, but they were a bit snarky, which was frustrating because it gave the candidates an easy scapegoat when they didn’t want to answer an actually legit tough question.

That debate sucked and many questions were silly. BUT saying that only Republicans should moderate Republican Debates is far worse. It’s dangerously idiotic. It shows you what 20 years of Fox News has done. They now think The Bubble is how things SHOULD BE.

This. I hate hearing people say stupid shit like the poster above. After a certain point, raw size does matter short of the big guy falling by accident, and even then there is no guaruntee of victory on the ground with someone of this size. I think that was even demonstrated in this video near the end.

That was 17 years ago. This is now.

12 hour days are the norm, though. For most everyone I know (middle-class decent-paying office jobs). That’s not some incredible feat. And we’re doing it without all the crazy bennies.

Six week recesses? 5 day weekends? 10 AM starts and 3 PM finishes? 2 weeks off for a Monday holiday? Allowing every single issue to go until the very last second? Any actual employee would be fired for that.

Hope you don’t mind if I share this - it’s spot on!

As compared to most actual working people, Members of Congress hardly work. The 12 hour days are rare. Most employees have to be “on” for hours and hours.

This. It is unbelievable how blind he and his like-minded colleagues are. Government subsidies and benefits are just hunky dory as long as they are distributed to the correct people, right?

My next door duplex neighbors in college were SEVEN Paul Ryans, all of them Republican assholes who were going to school on FEDERALLY funded grants/loans (spending their stipends on TV’s and pool tables), and I the Democrat who’s parents paid for every cent, by the work of their brow.

He is hardly working. The House schedule has just 126 workdays this year. 126! And those are mostly 10AM - 3PM hours. The rest of the days are classified as “district work days,” which is Congress-speak for paid days off to collect raise lots and lots of bribes money.

This is exactly it. And he has deluded himself, like a lot of Republicans and right-wingers who work in state and federal government, that he’s entitled to everything he gets because he’s working hard. The poors are obviously lazy because if they weren’t, they would at least have a nice middle class job with health
