They can co-exist, but here they gutted the federal law that would stop this shit - the Voting Rights Act. Before changing voting rules, the Act required 15 states with a history of discrimination (including, no surprise, Alabama) to get permission from the federal government. When the Supreme Court struck down this…
Haha I like the argument that progressives are the racist ones, because we just keep bringing up race. Everyone just needs to GET OVER IT. Ignoring things just makes them go away! Science.
Bentley’s a fucking douche canoe. He even as much as admitted to us that he didn’t even read legislation that went across his desk before signing. Yet the dipshits here still re-elected his dumb ass. The only person who could have possibly been a worse governor for us would be Ray Spoor Moore. Even Bentley’s wife…
The local media coverage on AL.com of this travesty in my home state has been very good.
The Gawker comments were the same way. One idiot kept insisting that closing the offices was actually better because there is a mobile unit that will visit each count once, for two hours, and that was way more convenient than actual office, so why do these all these stupid block people keep whining about nothing? He…
That actually explains a lot. The NYTimes I could understand more (but not much), but I was like, the ACLU site? Who is sitting around trolling that? Do those even people know what the ACLU is?!
Who the fuck goes on the ACLU site to argue this stuff? Jesus, the time some people have on their hands. I would think they’d all be over at FoxNews and Stormfront but I guess they get tired of conversing with people who agree with them.
That happens every time Drudge links to an article. A few dozen morons infect a site, put down their meth pipe and start in on the racism/sexism/homophobia and it’s pretty ugly. These people are so out of it they don’t even seem to realize that their Lord & Master Drudge is gay.
Dear Robert Bentley, Roy Moore, and all your ilk,
Except that they don’t. The Supremacy Clause states that ultimatly State courts must follow all federal laws when there’s a conflict between the federal law and a state constitution or state law, as long as the federal law is constitutional to begin with. Even treaties trump state laws.
We’ve got some SC opinions…
Andddd now we’re seeing the fallout for gutting the Voting Rights Act.
She’s not wrong. This is so fucking BLATENT. I wonder if anything will come of this, maybe a lawsuit that would make it to the Supreme Court? Something needs to be done.
Laws like this make me question the plausibility of federal and state laws co-existing. What do you guys think?
Robert Bently (et all.) aren’t even being subtle.
This is damned fine.
So instead we got an offseason full of discussion about the Patriots’ Act.
That sounds an awful lot like, “the Seattle Seahawks brilliantly offloaded a toxic player who wasn’t likely to contribute and instead was sucking up too much of the salary cap.”
Bush did Superbowl 49.
