Gawker's EIC is the guy who made his name by printing photos of Brett Favre's dick. So...good luck with that. (I agree with you, fwiw, just saying AJ is literally the last guy on earth who's going to have a problem with this article.)

But then the obvious followup question is "was there information on the phone of a less personal nature that would have also revealed that this bug existed?" And the answer to that is without question "yes."

Well, I'm sure Wiz is thrilled that he was able to play such a crucial role in exposing this problem.

Oh, I know they didn't contact the guy. I'm just trying to get Sam to admit it in print here to save "Wiz's" lawyers a question in the deposition.

Yeah, and, Christ, they even write "we had to cross the line" in their Twitter messages. Way to show the court you knew in advance what you were doing was wrong! Gah, the Gawker legal department must be losing their shit right about now.

Sam, you STILL haven't addressed whether or not you contacted this guy first to alert him to this.

Gizmodo may have given him legal ammunition against Apple by running this post. If Apple knew that a technique they were training their employees to do (use their own SIM card while repairing a customer's phone) could expose those people to the exposure of personal information and did not warn the employees about

Love that Gizmodo was courteous enough to blur out the license plate of that car behind him! (While simultaneously posting tons of incriminating stuff about this particular guy.)

Sam, since so many people are asking, can you update the story with an answer to the question of whether or not you attempted to contact Wiz prior to running this story, and whether you asked his permission to run this stuff?

Totally agree. Serious ethical breach by not informing him AND then posting incriminating/identifying info.

This is identifying information. I'm sure more than a few of this guy's co-workers and friends will be able to recognize him. Did you seek his permission before airing his dirty laundry? Somehow I doubt it. Very poor form, guys. Seriously, uncool.

Partly because it would set off an immediate Middle East arms race. If Iran gets one, you know Saudi Arabia is next. And so on down the line.

It's tough getting coverage as a diabetic (I went through this about 10 years ago...ugh) unless it's on an employee plan (either you or your spouse). It's a huge pre-existing condition, and nobody will cover it otherwise. That said, once a diabetic can coherently ask an ambulance driver to not take him to the

Incredible.

In reality, those stones were actually quite small. Many of them, in fact, were constantly in danger of being trod upon by a dwarf.

The lawsuits will probably be far greater than the cost of the ship itself, that's the real killer.

Damn, that port's captain gave Schettino the reaming of a lifetime. That was glorious to hear.

I know lots of people who don't "go public" (in the sense of telling friends) about a miscarriage until they have a successful birth. Once you give birth to a healthy baby, it's like, ok, I can be open about that now.

The left jab he gives that one dude after the white turtleneck guy falls down is one of the better chaotic street fight punches I've seen in a while.
