Modesto IS in the Central Valley but T-Rex arms up there actually lives in San Leandro.
I know Dolt 45 never shows self-awareness, but I’m PARTICULARLY surprised at the lack of irony behind “The liberals don’t want to call me unifying - LOOK AT WHAT WE’RE UP AGAINST! WHAT ABOUT SHOOTERS WHO SUPPORT THE OTHER SIDE?!”
Yeah, I kind of darkly considered that when he said he was going to ‘end’ HIV/AIDS, what he really meant is ‘we’re going to round up potential carriers and ‘quarantine’ (wink wink) them from society.’
Right, and let’s remember - the original quote was about 3 year olds:
Transphobes: “When you’re a kid, you don’t know anything about your sexuality or gender. It’s wrong to impose an agenda on them!”
“These deaths used to be relatively rare, but, as the Post explained a decade ago, “in the early 1990s, car-safety experts declared that passenger-side front airbags could kill children, and they recommended that child seats be moved to the back of the car”
I haven’t seen that - I’ll have to look for it. Thanks!
I mean, I’m her age and don’t really have wrinkles, but I also know people years younger than me who definitely do. I think genetics control most of it*, but you generally have at least a bit of an edge if you hydrate a lot, moisturize and use sunscreen / hide from the sun like it’s your nemesis.
She DID play a therapist, in ‘Reign Over Me.*’
*I originally typed ‘Punch Drunk Love’ but had to look it up and correct it, because both ‘Adam Sandler vying for serious roles’ movies blended together in my head.
On the other hand, I watched ‘Real Genius’ for the first time in 30 years and it holds up REMARKABLY well. There’s like one part where Chris hits on a girl at a party by making comments about her breasts which... isn’t great, but that’s pretty much the worst thing in there, and by 80's College Comedy standards, that’s…
“but I just CANNOT get PAST the INCORRECT usage of the PLURAL pronouns. Can’t we think of ANYTHING less CONFUSING to MEEEEEEE?”
‘Be Prepared’ and ‘Poor Unfortunate Souls’ are my favorite Disney Villain Songs, but the faux-Bowie ‘Shiny’ in Moana is pretty high on my lust as well:
Laci Peterson, Chandra Levy, Boones Farm and Meth!
(I mean, also George Lucas, but mostly murdered twenty-something women and meth).
How DARE you, sir! If your Halloween is ‘Straight Pride’, you are having a VERY disappointing Halloween.
One more point (sorry I know I’m posting a lot on this topic). Traditionally, when an aspect of culture no longer faces pushback, that piece of culture doesn’t disappear. It integrates. It becomes more visible. It turns into a regular fact of life. It’s allowed to embed itself in the fabric of the community.
Also because I grew up in this (and was super behind the scenes, having gone regularly to First Baptist before their ‘deprogramming stunt’) I can say with full confidence that the impulse to dismiss them as trolls that will lose interest if you ignore them is *wrong.*
I grew up in Modesto, and while I’m sure it has made progress since I left in ‘94, this is EXACTLY the Modesto I grew up with.
Yeah, I mean it’s totally possible to show people “here’s a cool fact about snowflakes!” without couching it in “your art is WRONG but there’s still time to fix it to my specifications!”
