Yeah, but serious point here, police handling is a really valuable skill.

That’s certainly one issue - but for urban deliveries rather than long-haul, emissions are at least as important. And given the problems with air quality near major European highways, possibly on long-haul routes too, soon. Mainly I’d say it’d be the urban stuff that matters.

It wasn’t Bernie’s fault, it was the FIA. Bernie wanted the race to run unsanctioned. The FIA just wanted to demonstrate their power, because they were in the middle of their embarrassing (failed, natch) attempt to grab F1. They didn’t give a damn about F1 growing or shrinking, they just wanted to get their hands on

No country anywhere actually prosecutes police officers according to the law, treating them just like anyone else. That is just one of the costs of having police. They are going to be embedded in the system and able to manipulate it to their advantage given that there is a very strong national interest in preserving

“We must never convict white police officers”

I don’t think that’s quite right. The justice system in the US, as in a lot of places, is unfair to poor people. That’s why the racists in the US are so dedicated to keeping dark-skinned people poor.

So, this for Verstappen, for... nothing? There doesn’t appear to be anything underlying this nasty attack except the green-eyed monster.

I hope that was deliberate irony.

I saw the picture at the top and thought they were anti. It’s a good Halloween costume given that it’s a cartoonish nightmare fantasy.

Except the US doesn’t even accept ‘white’ people these days. You closed your borders to Europeans a century ago. Basically there’s an entire empty continent with a thin froth of population round the coasts, but you lot won’t let anyone in.

I still find it utterly bizarre that the US, supposedly the home of red-in-tooth-and-claw free-marketry, is in fact a place where it’s considered normal to be unable to fire workers at any time for any reason.

I think we should celebrate a possibly unique event: someone using Nazi/Holocaust imagery to be deliberately offensive, but without being a Holocaust-denier or antisemite. Splendidly nuts.

It’s actually indicative of a much deeper problem. The security guard was just being a jobsworth. That he thought formal indigenous dress was attention-grabbing is the issue, because it shows the lack of acceptance of the indigenous people in their own land.

I have no idea if your current system of ‘birthright’ citizenship is sane or insane - it’s quite unusual in Europe, for what that’s worth. Personally I think you should let all the ‘illegals’ stay, and all their kids - hell, open your damn borders to the world, the USA is empty - but that’s not the issue.

I’m not entirely sure it’s completely proportional to the threat here. If I was really cynical I’d say it’s partly that it provides jobs for the big, thick, ex-Israeli-army boys who were getting recruited into the Israeli mafia as muscle. (Think Joe Gannascoli in the Sopranos.)

There’s nothing quite as funny as the mental gymnastics the Alonso fanboys will go through to claim their cheating racist hero is faster than that nasty dark-skinned boy.

You’re harsh on Vettel. He’s had a great season, and in almost any other era he’d have won the title. It’s a truly astonishing achievement for Hamilton to have been flawless for so long.

“before they commit suicide with Honda power units”

Was that not already standard practice in the US? It has been normal here in Europe for at least 25 years. Following the 1994 Balfour House car bomb, every Jewish building - school, synagogue, community centre, etc - has extensive security, including full-time armed guards while the buildings are in use.

Don’t you think it’s more damaging that this stuff is deeply embedded in the left of politics as well? Hillary’s campaign was full of antisemitic dog-whistling.
