The Model 3s being built in Shanghai are basically just kits sent over from the US to be assembled there. They don’t even have a functioning paint shop yet.

My observations from occasionally perusing r/teslamotors is that most of the really obnoxious fanboys are not, in fact, owners of any sort of Tesla. Which isn’t to say there are douchebag owners, there definitely are (I kinda try to avoid getting into conversations at the supercharger...), but hey, a lot of us are…
As a Tesla owner myself, let me just take this opportunity to mention that most of the really rabid Tesla fans seem to be people who don’t even drive a Tesla. Most people I know that actually own one are a bit more realistic about what it is and is not.
Yeah, the nice thing about pickups is that they’re so ubiquitous that knock off parts are cheap. Not nearly as nice as OE stuff, but for the price difference you can replace them every couple years.
In my experience the cars with halogen high beams were just low-effort upgrades from the manufacturer. Bixenon is always better.
They must have changed the ‘maximum forward facing lights’ rule at some point, plenty of LED-equipped cars now have a half dozen or more lights just to act as headlights.
Eh, they can fix this particular issue fairly effectively without adding a third sensor. You only need two sensors to detect a failure, you need three if you want to correct the failure. They just need to detect a broken AOA sensor and then disable MCAS as a result. That would 100% address this particular issue.
Or people driving sports cars that don’t go to the track, muscle cars that don’t go to the strip, etc. There’s really no justification for most people owning anything other than a Prius.
Ha! We had the same experience. Completely unmarked, not a bit of paint, no tope sign, we hit one with six people in a Dodge Durango at 55-60 mph. It was exciting.
If you want to slow people down with speed bumps, you use more than one. Three of them consecutively, maybe a foot apart, and people will drive over them at walking speed. It’s quite a lot worse than a simple single-bump.
Typical RVers towing a travel trailer see 10-12 mpg on a road trip. The rest is math, e.g. I have a 36 gallon tank so I typically do 300 miles between stops. The real killer is that I tow into the wilderness, camp for a few days, and then tow out of the wilderness. As much as I love my Tesla, and I think a lifestyle…
A guy I work with mentioned yesterday that the lease on his Bolt is going to be up in about a year and he will be looking. I suggested he look at the Mustang Mach-E, and his immediate response was that he wasn’t looking for a Mustang, he has a couple pups that he needs to be able to put in the back. Needs a…
Alright, I actually think those truck nuts are kinda hilarious. And I am definitely not a truck nuts sort of guy.
I always thought that question was more ironic than anything.
Neutral: I just bought a Tesla P3D a couple months ago. Truly a modern day muscle car, a sleeper to anyone who isn’t a gearhead that knows what they’re looking for. Can’t complain, range is more than sufficient and it’s damn near ideal as a daily driver.
Um, 35 kWh is pretty weak. Realistically, EVs need to be routinely at 300+ miles before we will see big market adoption. Even at 310 on my P3D (which of course I don’t actually see 310 in real life) I can appreciate that I must charge at home to make range a non-issue. It’s also good enough for roadtrips because of…
Tesla seems to be busy proving that EVs aren’t that hard a sell, you just have to make something better than a quirky looking Kei car or a compliance car. People still want normal looking cars, that perform decently, have good range, and don’t cost any more than a regular new ICE car. AFAICT that leaves only the Model…
Probably emissions related. On the highway it is in closed loop and so it detects a problem with an O2 sensor, or something along those lines, off the highway it spends more time in open loop where it won’t detect that.
Indeed. My Camaro has LATCH, but it would be laughable to try and put a car seat back there. I do have booster seats though, they just use the regular belt.
If people stared more at the comment, then maybe fewer of them would have starred it.
