I was there yesterday and they do sound quite good. I talked with one of the drivers and he claimed they are 2200 pounds and 550 horsepower. Sounds like a riot.  Steve was there and mentioned a couple more are expected to arrive at the track today (there were three out there yesterday).

I’ve said for a while that when the last fully manual STI rolls off the line (or Camaro SS 1LE, my current love), I’d buy one and then keep it forever. Sure, I’m an enthusiast, but I bet there are a lot of ‘regular’ people out there who feel much the same. We talk about how most people just drive appliances and don’t

What is this “maintenance” you speak of? I’ve been trying to kill my gas mower for more than a decade by doing nothing other than fill it with gas periodically. Eventually I suppose it shall die, and then I will get an electric one. Or a Honda gas mower. Can’t decide.

The STI is nice, and I’ve owned two of them — most recently a 2015 Launch Edition. But I decided recently it was a little too sedate compared to other choices, though, and I just sold it and bought a new Camaro SS 1LE. Gone are the days when pony cars couldn’t handle, the 1LE will hand the STI it’s ass in the

I’ve driven a half million miles without a blowout. Slow leaks, sure, but those are easily dealt with without swapping to a spare. Especially a cute little donut spare. I can’t say I entirely disagree with the notion of removing spare tires from cars since tires don’t fail abruptly nearly as often as they once did. I

I agree, it’s pretty bad. Not really significantly worse than the Mustang, which surprised me. Makes my old ‘15 STI feel very spacious by comparison. Honestly, though, the only problem I really have with it is seeing traffic signals when I’m first in line — have to bend over a little to see them. That’s annoying.

I totally agree. I’ve been driving turbo fours (mostly Subaru) for the past 12 years and I just switched about a month ago back to a big American V8 coupe (new Camaro SS 1LE) and I have to say ... wow, I had forgotten what it was like to have so much torque on tap with immediate response. There is something to be said

$300/mo for 1.5 acres of lawn care seems pretty good actually. Depending on what counts as ‘lawn care’ I would probably pay that much and be happy about it.

And yet, when I look for a fun car (because I’m just not an appliance-car type of guy, is this really Jalopnik I’m on right now?), what exactly are my electric choices? A Model S? Only fast in a straight line. Tesla Roadster? Try doing that daily more than a week. Chevy Bolt? Only my boss thinks 0-60 in 5.6 is fast.

Would also make buses and trains quieter. Bonus, I guess.

The truck width limit in Europe is 2.6m. Except for in the tighter areas of city, the Ford would technically fit.

Why was he so keen on you not showing that big tower-with-a-ball-on-top?

Huh? A current ZL1 is a solid mid-11 car and before much longer someone is going to freak one right into the 10s. Hell, even a bog standard SS is perfectly capable of low 12s off the showroom floor and more than a few are in the 11s with not much more than sticky tires.

That’s why you make sure *you* have excellent insurance. Then you do everything through them and let them duke it out with the other guy’s insurance company.

Great review! Makes me ever more itchy to get my Camaro. I ordered a 2018 1SS 1LE that should finally arrive next week. Can’t wait!

If you’re going to argue that insurance companies are discriminating, you need to back it up with something better than simple correlation or hyperbole. Insurance companies are businesses trying to make money, and they use all available metrics to pursue that goal. And there are plenty of insurance companies to choose

I’d try something weaker first before resorting to acetone. I’m confident it would work but it might be overkill. That said, I used goof off one time on a car and it did not take the factory paint off, so ...

I just ordered an SS 1LE as a matter of fact, status 3000 today :). Still have to pinch myself sometimes when I realize I’m actually going to buy a CAMARO, but whatever! Even the regular SS drives pretty nice, and the reviews on the 1LE are over the top. Can’t wait!

I just ordered a 1LE Camaro. Sadly, just a Camaro SS 1LE, not the ZL1, but it has all the same track bits but with less power. Still 455 so I’m not complaining too loudly, and 30K less than a ZL1.

Much like autopilot on planes, where the term originated. It’s arguable that the colloquial interpretation of the term means Tesla should have chosen something else, but it is hardly without precedent.
