Jalopnik always seems to forget that they’re not the target audience for marketing gimmicks like this. Features like this aren’t for you, they’re for the borderline enthusiasts who want to impress their passengers that they want to pull in from Subaru, VW, etc.

Oh so you read about how much fun David had replacing the clutch in his!

I can’t say I disagree entirely with anything you said. The most recent TGT episode was painful to watch at times. I felt they had everything going really well during seasons 2 and 3, so that was a bit of a disappointment.

It’s weird.  There always used to be an article about each new Top Gear and Grand tour episode.  I saw absolutely nothing about the Grand Tour episode that came out a few weeks back.

Go inside and wait for the person in front of you in line to have a conversation with the cashier before having them find the most obscure pack of cigarettes and an assortment of lotto tickets before taking 5 minutes to find the 3 pennies they need to make exact change?

1st Gear: Our neighborhood’s facebook page has had people reporting their credit card data being stolen at all 4 of the gas stations in our part of town. I had two separate cards compromised at gas stations in 2019 (neither in my home town).  I don’t know what the right move is here, but as a consumer it seems obvious

I have nothing against this car. I’ve always liked the hot Civics and wanted one badly when I was driving around in my regular Civic EX back in high school and college.

Why does it say “elf 3” on that Highlander?

I guess as long as they can keep Fusion production numbers in the mid-upper 5 digit range, it’s worth it to keep around until it needs major investment for government compliance.

This is great advice. When I bought my current truck, I thought I was going to break the key off trying to unlock the tailgate a few times. Popped the service cover off, cleaned it up a bit inside, sprayed some POR-15 along the bottom hem (and left it to dry before the next step), lubricated the mechanism and lock

The current TITAN has really been around since 2010?  I thought it was like 2014 or something.

The Highlander is about to be replaced by one that is rated for 35city/35hwy.

I think they can owe a lot of it to its styling. They went full-retro, and arguably did it very well. It wears modifications like hood vents and intakes, splitters, and spoilers without looking awkward.

In my opinion this type of license and this technology will really be the saving grace of senior citizens whose kids are taking their keys away because they’re a hazard on the road.

My Rav4 Hybrid gets38-39mpg average. I think the new Highlander Hybrid is rated for like 36. Those are decent full sized sedan numbers.

Where did you get the idea that he would ever plan on going back?

The way I see it, from the way I was raised, people are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty, have the right to a speedy trial, be free from unfair treatment, etc. Carlos Ghosn may be guilty of something, but he’s being treated as a violent criminal (seemingly worse in some ways), detained seemingly

I hope you realize that nobody outside of a radius of less than 1% of the state talks with an accent remotely like the one you’re trying to emulate.

Another thing to look at with “how many miles are too many?” is whether the specific car looked at has a common problem.

At this point what’s the easiest long term option for owners? Gut the housing and build your own inside of it?  They didn’t build a lot of these, and available parts are going to become rare quickly until they run out completely.
