She’s fucking brilliant and, yeah, electrifying. Personal Shopper is her best performance – and her best film, one of the most quietly terrifying ghost stories ever put on screen. But its power depends a lot on her portrayal of that character, and the mixture of fear and longing and uncertainty that she transmits at

Not just misfires — LA Times says a stunt double accidentally fired the gun twice after being told it was “cold”. Everything that went wrong on that set had already previously gone wrong on that very same set just days earlier. Nothing was corrected in response.

On the bright side, it’s kind of reassuring. I think everyone’s immediate reaction to the news was “how the hell could this even happen on a modern film set!?” - and “because it was barely a professional film set at all” is at least an answer. Better than it being a completely legitimate enterprise and STILL having

So it wasn’t merely an accident, it was the culmination of a long sequence of negligence and fuckery resulting from shitty management. Two prior misfires shows a clear pattern of negligence, as does crew members walking off in protest over their repeated safety concerns being ignored. I dunno how the labour laws will

The Usual Suspects was directed by Bryan Singer, so Kevin Spacey is probably not even the worst person who worked on it. It’s still a good movie, though.

I think you can admit that an artist’s work is pretty good while also admitting they’re an asshole?”

You said it well. Thanks.

I mean, I didn’t like the “we’ll rise again” line. I sorta remember when and where I was when I heard it, and cringed, but that’s story. His work is still pretty good. And why the hell am I defending him? Dunno.

I’m just spit-balling here, but my guess is WB was quick to make Gadot happy because she’s anchoring the whole Wonder Woman film series and also a much bigger star.

Oh, the Nolan model is definitely preferable to the Snyder model. It’s just I’ve been thinking recently of the sort of Batman movie I would like, and I realized I don’t want Nolan realism or Snyder grimdark or Burton gothic-camp or Schumacher camp-camp. The closest to what I want is a recreation of what it felt like

I like my beer cold, my TV loud, and my Batman full of German-expressionistic mise-en-scene!

After what Zack Synder did?

So, a Nolan-era retread, then. It looks...fine. It’s fine. I’ll almost certainly see it, but I’ve come to the realization that I’m kind of just over Batman shit. He’s vengeance, he’s the night, he’s got a weird growly voice, yadda yadda yadda.

BoJack Horseman

Just no. It’s being produced by Barker himself and in no way is Pinhead portrayed that way in the story. Well I mean kinda they're a total badass and dress rad, but I don't think that's what you mean.

Great finale. As average as most of this season has been, these last 3 episodes have each been home runs (the crow episode wasn’t great by itself, but as a lead in for the finale, did a great job of putting the pieces in place).

Nothing could be more frightening than... a slideshow!
