The tearjerker opening of Guardians of the Galaxy would like a word about the whole “MCU hasn't done cancer” thing.

No, no what happens is that Portman simply transforms into Hemsworth when she turns into Thor. It's confusing and doesn't make anyone happy.

Didn’t see it. But I liked The Leftovers.

I’m excited it’s not just a remake of the film or adaptation of the comic. Lindeloff is a fantastic writer (yes, despite that frustrating last season of “Lost”), and so I’m definitely intrigued.

I certainly haven’t gotten the vibe from any of these trailers that the Rorschach Militia is anything but a completely horrible group of reactionary extremists in the vein of emergent right wing militias we’re seeing today. I don’t get the vibe that the masked cops are heroes, either. I guess my best hope for the

I’m kind of getting the impression that the show is actually going to be taking a critical position the idolatry of Rorschach with his army of followers. Nothing about the way they’ve been shown so far in any of the promotional materials screams, “Hey, aren’t these guys cool/good?” to me.

I mean, that is away of viewing it...but I think that’s a pretty simplistic take on Rorschach (who should not be idealized or condemned necessarily which is, I think, the point).

I liked and still like Garden State. I lived in NJ for about five years, and while it’s not my favorite place in the world, it takes me back to the good times I did manage to have there every time I watch it. Natalie Portman’s character’s mother reminds me of my friend’s mom quite a bit.

I’ll also add that if society has deemed Full House worthy of rebooting into a new life, then fuck it, let’s let Kevin Smith have ten new lives.  Flame on!

I know it’s all standard issue to mock Kevin Smith, Garden State, and a bunch of the other nonsense of the late 1990s and early 2000s. But I remember with anger that the Boomers insisted their equally crappy film and TV garbage was classic. So, whatever, I want to carpet bomb the earth with Matchbox 20, Sugar Ray,

She’s afraid to hand them over because they might discover her plans to build the world’s largest and fastest yacht that is powered by solely by the blood of non white, non Christian schoolchildren.

Let’s be fair.

‘My co-queer buds’ just seemed awkward.

My opinion on it is that in a perfect world any actor could play practically, with exceptions, almost any role. However since it is a very prejudiced world and people that are minorities are often not hired for a variety of reasons. Accuracy and representation is necessary and ideal. I didn’t check the history part on

My queer buds and I have sat through the performances of plenty enough ‘authentic’ gay actors to agree with her point. Identity is not talent. And btw, Dante Gill did not identify as trans; the label was applied to her by an academic based on criteria (wearing men’s clothes, insisting on being called Sir, etc) that

it doesn’t say the people handing them over were keeping hold of them, just they handed them over, they may have just known where R. Kelly kept his collection of tapes, but yeah, they probably knew what he was doing all along, and handing the tapes over is probably part of a bargain....

These vile individuals were fine to sit on the tapes as long as money & the lifestyle they wanted were provided. Now, they will all abandon this mess of human and act like they are cleansing their souls. Disgusting.

Even without the tapes, he’s fucked. At this point it’s just a matter of adding years. As for why they held on to them, that’s easy. Money and quite possibly, these were people aiding him in his kiddy diddling, but when the roof finally fell in, they all want to make sure that they don’t end up going away like him,

Yes, I don’t know why they had to gaslight her.

It’s true. According to the IndieWire article, they provided her with no style guide, or any indication that they wanted her to follow the established style. They did not give her feedback on the dailies (reports were “glowing”), and even let her move post-production to London so she could cut the episodes with her
