I am glad you were able to find her, and that at least you got a few answers to whatever questions were bouncing around your head. If the Internet had been as powerful of a tool ~20 years ago (when I asked him that), I might have tried to find our family regardless of my father's attitude, but at this point it's

That thought made me think about the stigma placed on women who do have children, realize they can't hack it, and give them up for what is hopefully a better parent to raise. My own father was adopted by a great family, but when I asked him if he'd ever wanted to find his birth mother, his response was 'she didn't

Oooooh boy, I really want to pretend this doesn't even exist.

Mine is a weird and complicated porn appreciation.

At the ripe old age of 34, I'm going to pretend I don't need socks OR underwear. Ever.

Except I'm totally lying about the underwear thing.

Oh! And, if you dig deep enough to the original Sailor Moon... Sailor Moon S.

Eight years of mall Christmas retail (well ok two years was in the food court, WHICH ACTUALLY MAKES IT WORSE). I can't stand the modern music, and I do all my shopping on Amazon, because Prime shipping and pajamas, bitches. All of ya'll who enjoy the mall cesspit and think the 'shopping is fun'? You're evil evil

Taboo and also extremely damaging ones, i.e. abusive. I love Utena but it definitely portrays some disturbing situations. Not that it shouldn't. I hope in some ways it helps people identify things that are 'wrong' in their lives that they might not have understood otherwise.

You forgot Read Or Die.

I wanted to get more involved in this conversation, but from reading the comments I'm realizing how many bad memories I have about the whole subject (including my mom's Puritan-like attitudes about it). I think I'm going to have some chocolate instead >.<

Didn't it briefly (March 1996 to April 1996) mean 'meet up'? Not this 'sexay' version we all know and hate now? (I say this bitterly as a married female who was recently asked if I hooked up with a 'notorious' guy that I am seriously only hiking-buddies with).

Ah hell, why not. I'd almost rather have veiled or not so veiled innuendo as campaign slogans than the garbage we have to slog through every other year. At least then you can laugh at it. Although, 'vote organizing' sounds kinda shady. Guess he could use a crash course on The Internets slang.

Guess that means I would have been a straight A student back in the day. Oh well. /procrastinates caring

I honestly don't know a lot about it; I am married and lived off campus so my involvement in the student body was minimal. You're probably right though. I just remember hearing things over time, and reading about the students in the local fish wrapper.

The school I recently graduated from is across the street (small town) from a private U that actually banned all fraternities because there were several student deaths over the course of a couple of years. The only reason my school didn't do the same was because it's part of the state system and therefore not allowed

And reveal troop movements to the entire globe! /still angry

Nice of them. My local PD was woefully under-informed on the subject. I usually made people meet me in public parking lots (that have cameras), but sometimes I have gone to some sketchy houses. However 90% of those meetings were arranged through Facebook so I was able to do a little research on the individual first

I do approve of this, but I have to ask why she felt this was necessary... does OK have some kind of religious element to the licensing process?

I recommend just staying out of IN all together. And yes, I've been there tons of times, many different parts of the state. Bloomington just isn't worth (most of) the rest of it.

If you've ever driven around back-woods Indiana, you'd understand. Hell, even upstate New York has these areas... poor, sparsely populated, people who are there won't ask questions or take a risk. I used to live near a bunch of communities like that and it's always made me a little nervous, since I used to pick up
