I'll add Smartypig.com to this list. It's basically a bank, and has a VERY competitive interest rate. Plus, when you take your money out, you get the option of taking it in discounted gift cards. It's anywhere from 1% to I think 14% depending on what store you get. And you can be smart about it. For instance, I

I would hardly call it a change of lifestyle, but a good set of knives is wonderful. Generally, steer away from the sets and get just the knives you need (it'll save money and you'll likely get better quality). I'm not vegetarian, but even us carnivores cut veggies, and my knives work fine on veggies.

I know you specifically said no electrical work, but I ran a set of lights on the inside of my closet without previous knowledge of how to do it and it was pretty easy. Just talk to someone at Home Depot and read about it online. And, of course, make sure whatever circuit you're working on is dead before you do

The Dropbox app will do it without needing a connection. When I plug my phone in it asks me if I want to import. I decline, but it seems like it would work fine. Maybe uninstall and reinstall Dropbox?

There have been several times when I have closed Firefox while it's downloading a file, and when that happens Firefox simply kills the download. Is there a setting or extension that will either (1) warn me when I try to do that, or (2) keep the download going in the background until it finishes?

I actually think your hypothetical package stealer would lack morals and not ethics.

Are you sure Moon+ is $10? I have it on my Android tab and it was free. Even the Pro version is only showing $5 in the Play store.

My NAS just failed and I'm looking for recommendations. I don't have time to build one; I would be up for installing custom software (e.g., FreeNAS), but out-of-the-box capable would be preferred.

Thanks. It doesn't bring all the functionality back, but it sure does make it easier to scan the threads for the interesting ones.

Tripods have a habit of collapsing, so insurance certainly isn't a bad idea if you can afford it. Also, be sure to get a UV filter for your lens. Not only will it help with many shots, but I've heard several stories of the filter cracking but saving the lens from further damage.

Maybe it's the fact that my family lives in Eastern Europe and that they all use email addresses from the noreallyitsyourbank.ru domain?

So I have to say that I'm still at a loss trying to figure out this new comment system. I can't distinguish between new threads and replies; I can't figure out how to quickly scan all threads; and as far as I can tell there's no notification anymore when someone replies to one of my posts.

Has anyone else noticed a significant uptick in legitimate email getting swept up in GMail's spam filter? I finally had to create a filter that effectively disables it. I tried for a week or so to tell it that messages from my family were "Not Spam," but it continued to insist the next one was.

What happened to the Daily App Deals posts?

For me, it replaced something called Simeon, which I only briefly used following Telnet. At least Eudora is still around...

So granted, Outlook costs a lot of money. But if you already have the Office suite, is it worth using? At that point it's effectively free.

I thought that you didn't need to install Find My iPhone anymore with iOS 5. Can't you just log into the web and track your phone/lock it/send messages to it? What more do you get from installing the app?

So I lost my star?

Approved. And I agree my default is 350 for cooking. I needed to finish off some fried chicken last night, with the recipe being completely of my own making, and I used 350. Came out perfect!

I didn't see a CM9 for my tab (GT 7 Plus). Plus, I don't know how to go about flashing a custom ROM.
